The Short Game - Netflix documentary from 2013 about the best golfers from around the world aged 7 & 8, playing the biggest tournament of the year for their age group. Tons of interesting characters - Anna Kournakova’s little brother, an autistic genius from the Philippines, a mini female Tiger Woods etc. The parents obviously a bit kooky and entertaining. Not ashamed to admit I got misty eyed at the end of it. The missus loved it too. 9/10

Been making my way through Midnight Mass. Short 6 part series from Mike Flanagan. Pretty good. Very well shot as per usual with him. Not quite as horror-centric as his previous work, but those elements are there. All in all, a decent watch but nothing mind-blowing.

We’ve been enjoying Unabomber with Sam Worthington. What a bizarre story all things considered, forgot he had LAX completely shutdown. In the age of social media you can only imagine the frenzy if something like that happened nowadays.

Squid Game - Korean series where cash strapped individuals join a secret game to win big and recover their lives only to find more is at stake than they expected, pushing their moral boundaries to the edge and beyond.

Definitely watchable for an area that’s been covered many times before. As with most Asian stuff, whenever they do Western (read British/American) scenes it’s pretty cringey.

I’ve seen a few comments similar to this, but I thought the portrayal of those characters in that way was completely intentional.

They seemed intended to be grotesque, pompous caricatures of a distant elite lacking in humanity.

Not on nextflicks (shit thread title) but the American Crime Story: Impeachment show about Bill and Monica whips fucking ass. They are leaning into it soooooo hard. The music playing when they unveil Hillary at the end of the last episode is something out of a horror movie. I cannot recommend it enough.

Started Squid Game last night. Very well done, good humour mixed with some gratuituous violence. The main character is gas.

There’s Someone In Your House. Pretty decent slasher, no great surprise who the killer is but pretty enjoyable. 6.5 slashed achilles tendons out of 10.

Just finished Squid Game - what a show! Not the most original concept, but so well executed (ha), especially the visuals; serious kudos to the art director.

The soundtrack is great as well, particularly the haunting pieces used in the end credits. There’s some definite Aphex Twin/Vatican Shadow vibes in there.
