Also, make sure to watch the original version with subtitles, rather than the dub.

      BlainSA As with most Asian stuff, whenever they do Western (read British/American) scenes it’s pretty cringey.

      I’ve seen a few comments similar to this, but I thought the portrayal of those characters in that way was completely intentional.

      They seemed intended to be grotesque, pompous caricatures of a distant elite lacking in humanity.

          hugopal Well yeh, that’s the idea, but it was more the way it was done - dialogue, scene and acting. Even the overdub is cringe.

          See the western portrayal in Ip Man as another example.

              Squid Game deserves the plaudits. Best thing on shitty Netflix for yonks.

              It’s a weird show, a lot of the quote unquote “Horror Elements” seem like an afterthought, it’s a surprise when you get a quote unquote “Scary Bit”.

              I’m totally here for the performances, script, weirdness and atmosphere though.

                I done a Mono and fell asleep watching the first episode of Sqiud Game last night. I’ll dive in later and watch the second episode but not feeling it after the first segment.

                Finished episode 4 yesterday, defo worth sticking with, Dubbers. As mentioned, its something different than the usual moody detective bollox that Netflix specialises in.

                Squid Games is good, worth the hype even, but the last 3 episodes are dog shit. The ‘twist’ at the end also.

                  Oooh Loved Bad Sport. Same feel as 30 for 30, but obviously with the nefarious theme. Hansie Cronje episode was solid for the cricket fans on here - lol @ the 2000 Test in the centurion.

                    rhouses that ‘twist’ was telegraphed in the first episode. Didn’t spoil my enjoyment, however.

                        Millsy Gets a bit melodramatic from the marbles onwards. I enjoyed it and it had me hooked, but yeah, I was expecting an old boy wtf moment at the end and it fell a bit flat.

                              Watched the first episode of Squid Game last night. Very enjoyable. The missus likes it too, so should get it finished before Easter.

                                  It was fun when it got dropped at the Classic nights at The End as well, which was often.

                                      Is there another series of Squid Game on the horizon? Finished it last night, good stuff overall.

                                        I’m amazed if there isn’t. It’s their most popular release ever. Which is pretty wild.

                                        LT42 The guy that wrote it did it about 12/13 years ago. Given the time it took to make, he’s pretty much written off a sequel, but once the money is laid down on the table he may think different
