Got given a kindle paperwhite for Christmas. It’s brilliant. Love how you can change so many things on it. Especially like the amber light for night reading

It’s wicked. It changes automatically between certain times of the day/night. I got so hacked off with buying books and the text was different sizes. Sometimes I’d have to wear my reading glasses. But not anymore.

Started ‘The City We Became’ by N.K.Jesmin - good so far but early days.

The City We Became is my least favorite book by N.K. Jemisin. Yeah I’ll read the rest of the series as it comes out, but sheesh, what a let down compared to her earlier works.

Wally The Fifth Season, book 1 in the Broken Earth series. It’s basically a gateway drug. Some parts are written in second tense, which makes for some difficulty. Read the Appendices first. It helps. I did, but still had to bounce back to it frequently for reminders.

The Inheritance trilogy an Dreamblood duology are both wonderful as well.

The Hidden Palace by Helene Wecker. Perfect follow-up to The Golem and the Jinni.

American Elsewhere by Robert Jackson Bennett. An utterly strange book that needs a limited series adaptation. Lots of it reminded me of early Twilight Zone stuff, moody and atmospheric.

My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix. Hilarious and gross, but still manages to have a lot of heart (yeah, I said it).

Remote Control by Nnedi Okorafor. I’ve enjoyed her Binti series, and this is also wonderful.

Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson. Very good. Typical Sanderson, but entertaining always.

The Wolf by Leo Carew. Fucking LOVED this. Gotta pick up The Spider.

Unreconciled by W. Michael Gear. Book 4 of The Donovan Series, which altogether is kinda wild west meets star trek. This book goes kinda David Karesh/Waco.

Glimmer by Marjorie B. Kellogg. Great premise, good plot, but the YA romance gets in the way.

Currently reading The Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo. ⅔ in and loving it.

JonQPublik I must thank you for recommending The Wolf, Jon. About halfway done, it’s been a while since I’ve had this much fun reading a book. What a ride so far. No spoilers, but the way the battle of Githru plays out felt like a proper master stroke in writing. Also finding myself quite confused if I should be rooting for Bellamus or not. Must admit, was a bit intimidated with the fantasy + war tag, but this is easy reading. Like an idiot I hit epilogue by mistake on my kindle and saw a name of a character (and nothing else)… now I can’t stop thinking about it!

Think @Homegrove should give it a shot.

Finished Adventures In Wonderland: Acid House, Rave and the UK Club Explosion by Sheryl Garratt.
A decent read into the origins of dance music in nightclubs which goes right back to the early 70’s up untill acid house and the rise of the superclubs.
I didn’t enjoy it especially the rise of the Dj’s Frankie Knuckles & Larry Levan plus loads more. I did get bored towards the end but overall it was a good read.

Been going through Ian M. Banks’ Culture-series. Bit amazing that as a scifi-fan I got to be this old before starting them. Great stuff.

Homegrove I’ve toyed with the idea of rereading them all again… something of an undertaking though. I assume Hollywood has been told to fuck off when it comes to adapting his work? Feels like rich pickings for an industry devoid of any creativity.
