I’m sure you would have a much better hit rate listening to live mixes from the 90s because the BPMs tended to be higher.
There’s also major differences in the production techniques of prog tracks now, as compared to the 90s that gave it much more variety and energy.
I hadn’t listened to Digweed for years, but really enjoyed his Bunker stuff, and that was very context-specific because he was aiming at home listening — rather than to capture a club feel. As soon as he went back to playing in clubs, I lost interest.
