Anyone else on here involved in crypto investments?

BTC just went over $40k per coin!!

I bought some BTC when it was around $11k. Not a lot, but I’m pretty happy with how that little bit has turned out! I’m only sad I didn’t buy more when it was so low last year

      Kells77 Good skills kel!

All my investments are in Alt coins, mainly in the 3rd gen DeFi coins.

It really has got to the point now where you need to have at least some of your investment in crypto.

With the onset of stable coins tracking the dollar this has been a game changer.

Hursty I’ve been considering other cryptocurrency too but just haven’t spent the time researching to figure out which one yet. Probably should get on that soon though, since it’s all on the rise 🙂

Was only talking to somebody yesterday about bitcoin. He reckons he invested 2k a few years and it’s now Worth 6k.
I wouldn’t mind investing myself but I wouldn’t know how to do it.

Dubman It’s super easy to buy in…I can give you a referral link to the place I use if you want. I think you get a tiny amount for free (like $5 or something), but free money is free money! 🙂

Hursty Anyone else on here involved in crypto investments?

              I’m not Hursty.

              Hope that helps.

i had 3 etherium from 2018, the exchange i was trading on disappeared and “lost” the keys. didn’t have a ton invested, but i’d be up at least 6X now. it’s a mild aggravation in my life watching this bull run.

Binance is a good platform to use.

I recommend researching ADA by Cardano Kels, one for the future.

Kells77 i got $10 in free btc when i signed up with coinbase, it bottomed out at $4 and it’s worth over $40 today. thinking about withdrawing it and paying for part of a tank of gas.

Hursty it wasn’t a rookie mistake, i was day trading. only had $800 in, if i was heavily invested, i would’ve had cold storage along with a trading stack. canada revenue failed to disclose that the exchange hadn’t paid taxes in 2 years and their insurer was equally quiet about them dropping their coverage, despite still advertising it. i did my due diligence and got screwed anyways, but that’s life. i feel bad for the people who had their lives invested (although leaving those amounts on an exchange is pretty dumb).

303abuser Hahaha…might as well leave it in and see if it grows even more! That’s my strategy. I don’t have a lot of skin in that game, but it’s enough for a little getaway at the moment 🙂 Hopefully it’ll grow enough for a full fledged holiday….then I’ll think about taking it out haha

303abuser Just calling the principle out really for anyone looking to get involved. Never leave your investment permanently on a crypto exchange.

I bought 500 quids worth of XRP years ago when it was worth fuck all, hoping it would explode like bitcoin did. Last time I checked, it was actually worth less than fuck all.

Kells77 i wouldn’t touch anything but btc or eth, but that’s me. you can check out etfs too, if you want something long term and more compatible with retirement savings plans.

Matt i think it’s being de-listed next week (i might have the time frame wrong, haven’t followed it that closely), basically it’s worthless now.

                          • Matt replied to this.

Hursty yeah for sure, i knew the risk, thought i had my bases covered. it’s generally very good advice to use cold storage.

i still think bitcoin isn’t even close to being scalable and won’t be long term until they figure out how to make it easy and as close to error proof as possible. the average person wouldn’t manage to transfer it from one account to another without permanently losing it at some point.

Kells77 that’s actually my thought too. leave it there and if it hits $1M, i have my initial investment back. 🤣

303abuser That’s where the 3rd gen crypto’s come into play with smart contracts and Proof of stake methods of verification.

Bitcoin is purely an investment option now like digital gold, it isn’t really useable.

303abuser yeah, I wrote it off as a bad move years back. Thankfully it was only a few hundred quid. At the time I bought it, it was being touted as having potential to be the next big thing. You win some, you loose some.

Hursty i obviously don’t know much about it, but that was why i bought eth previously. just looked like a better idea. i’m sure blockchain tech and some of this stuff will be very useful in the future, but it’s a long way off yet.

Currently considering San Diego based weed stocks.

Dubman No charge for hosting or storing crypto (their help site says USD, so it could be different for other currency, but not sure) or transferring from one Coinbase wallet to another. To transfer crypto off Coinbase (to a bank or investment account, etc) incurs a transaction fee that they estimate, which includes network transaction fees, miner’s fees, etc. I haven’t tried to withdraw yet, but apparently they display the fees at the time of withdrawal. I also have a mining account (it’s shit, don’t do it) and those fees aren’t that high, so I wouldn’t imagine the fees to be too pricey, but being honest, I don’t know for sure.

if it’s the same as it was a couple of years ago, change btc to eth/ltc before you transfer it. faster and way cheaper.

                                Losing digital money.

                                Lol.

Here’s my tip - use the real stuff.

Smallman1 It’s the future whether you like it or not.

Just take a second to think where the world will be in 10 years at the rate or change we are seeing.

                                  Get involved.

They’ve certainly got you on the reel Hursty!

Smallman1 Lol to be fair I’m interested because I work in cyber security.

bosstrabs Let me see, you’ll only invest when Warren Buffer finally changes his mind and gets involved lol.

                                    Watch this space.

Too complicated and volatile for me. Will stick to paying down the mortgage and topping up the pension.

Yo, Alistair, can you tell us about your property portfolio again as though nobody else here owns property?
