Oh come on! Be yourself is a great track!

Dan #shamelessplug played that on one of my recent mixes (Stay @ Home Mix 007) on Mixcloud, as bit of a tribute to Paradise Garage/Twilo šŸ˜‰

Homegrove only negative about Be Yourself from me is that it’s too long. Gets a bit repetitive after the main breakdown, which most people mix out of after anyway.
Apart from that, it’s one of my favourites!

I can remember seeing him at Space in 99. He was on before Sasha and he destroyed that room with a really dark and heavy sound, suited that room perfectly. It was before Space added extra bar and lights so it was just a pitch black room with lasers and amazing sound. Sasha came on and played till 7am and was just as awesome. Danny finished his set and came straight onto the dance floor and danced to Sasha just behind me. Which prompted my missus to keep nudging every 5 mins saying ’Danny keeps looking at your arse, I think it’s your lucky night treacle’

Remember him playing this
[

Saw him again a couple of years later again at Space, he was good but he played a 16 bar loop of Crystal Waters - Gyspy Woman, which I can’t stand, for about 45 mins. I left the room, got a drink, checked out the other room and when I came back he was still at it. TBF when the drums dropped the room went off but I think that was more out of relief than anything else.

What a night that was in Space. My first ever night in Ibiza. Will never forget Sasha starting with Fibonnaci Sequence when he came on after Tenaglia

Not a fan of that Dnote remix.

The Look Glammer girl with the Daou is also a firm fave.

Dan love the Grand Ballroom remix of ā€˜Give Myself To You’ by The Daou. It’s also on my ā€˜Stay At Home 007’ mix šŸ˜‚

Love all that Daou/Murk sound. Tribal was a great label in the 90’s.

Dan Peter Daou is a huge reason why those Danny T productions sound good. Such an underrated musician

alistair Peter Daou now works in politics but he did (Re)post this very recently:

Dan indeed, that’s why I struggled with the Lawler nu breed tribal sound at the turn of the millennium. Tribal UK, Tenaglia and especially Murk in its various guises had done it all before and better too. Derivative

              • Dan replied to this.

alistair The second coming of tribal was moody and boring. The odd track thrown in was excellent, but a whole (yawns) set. Spare me.

Celeda - Be Yourself is an absolute tune.

                  Danny clearly robbed this track

Old-Dutch Yes mate what a night, its got to be in my top 3 if not the best night I’ve had clubbing

Same here mate. Unforgettable experience. Every time they ā€˜refurbished’ Space after then it got worse and worse as a club

This is probably the closest you will get to a recording of complete excperice

Apparently this was one of his secret weapons. I wish that he had ended his Athens GU with is, rather than that ghastly Frank Sinatra track.

                      FabiParas

The part where is played touch me, he was playing a classics part to his set. He also played Turn Me On (Bedrock Mix). I Feel Love (Danny Howells Mix), and The Baguio Track. He stopped the music and said ā€œhello Londonā€ then gave a big long speech then played Touch Me for half hour. I don’t recall him in the Bedrock tent. That was the last time that I saw him and he was good. I saw him play ARC in New York in 2003 and wished I had gone to Danny Howells the night before. I caught him at Heaven in 2004 and it was all over. 98 to 02 was probably his best era.

Dry-Tinder it’s the eclecticism of his selections but somehow it all sounded to cohesive. Placing say MIKE in the same set list as MAW and Yves Deruyter with Morales. I mean who else had the skill and chutzpah to execute it

Dry-Tinder yep, got my tents mixed up. Got loads of cracking photos from the Bedrock tent that day.

Good Times. Other than that nonsense speech and death of Touch Me.

Dry-Tinder ace, never knew such a set existed.

A few too many disco-y vocals at the beginning, but also some decent tunes I’d never heard before.

Dry-Tinder Apparently this was one of his secret weapons. I wish that he had ended his Athens GU with is, rather than that ghastly Frank Sinatra track.

Disagree with this, Frank Sinatra and Red Light District are slight about-turns, but work well with the sleazy vibe of the disc. Also, that Dezrok track sounds a bit more like something which would be on the slightly heavier Disc 2. Overall, I don’t think the comp needed much changing.

Still the perfect mix of this stone cold house classic
Memories of Alfredo playing it at Space to huge applause

alistair I hear you, it was a great track, but something that seemed to get so overplayed for a year I now just find that vocal unlistenable.

Agree with that Dave. So many times I’ve thought of playing it when I am mixing on my vinyl and I just can’t bring myself to play it any more

Sure, familiarity breeds contempt and all that (not least Tim Deluxe/Love story) but it’s undeniably a proper HOUSE classic and great record. Tenaglia’s mix is perfect feel good vibes.

Dry-Tinder Danny Tenaglia vs Robert Owens - I’ll Be Your Elements (WMC Miami Mix)

…that’s a PQM edit and is fantastic

jb_808 Sounds like a great night out, not often you see DJs on the dance floor. Cool tune.

His KOT mix shows the two sides of the same coin which made him unique for a time. Proper feel good house alongside, dark trIbal madness. Morales is the only other that can combine the light and shade to such good effect (with his red zone stuff) Morales though is still producing some top records.

                            • Dan replied to this.

I was going out clubbing frequently that year and I’m pretty sure I heard everyone from Dave Seaman to Kerri Chandler, and all points inbetween, play that track. Even heard it in my local shit Ritzy nightclub - not that mix though.

I don’t know the Tim Deluxe story, though.

I can’t listen to any of that ā€œclassicā€ house if I’m honest, certainly not any mixes anyway. I mixed with a crowd during those days who wouldn’t listen to anything else. Frankie Knuckles music all night. And they thought anything Prog related was low brow and would never last. Now they’re all bald, mortgaged up to their eyeballs and I’m about to tune into Nass lay them straight. Go figure.

mono-stereo Danny Krivit at Corsica was getting down next to us…top lad

alistair Morales on Crosstown Rebels says it all. Longevity in his stuff.b

LT42 I can’t listen to any of that ā€œclassicā€ house if I’m honest, certainly not any mixes anyway. The only dance music I can’t listen to ā€˜all night’ is drum n bass (can do about two hours - three if there’s a decent mc) and Swedish House Mafia style shite (can do about twenty seconds).

Never really seen a classic house/prog split. Most people I’ve hung around with in clubbing circles, from Cream to Fabric to Beijing days, have been as comfortable going to a classic house night as a techno night, so long as the music is decent.

LT42 I came in with Rave, moved on through proto-prog but always went to the house rooms at raves to ā€œChill Outā€. Sunday mornings was always ceiling patrol listening to classic House but know what you mean about the snobbery of the original ā€˜heads’.

Bluebird Records used to stock Limbo back in the day and you’d go in there and they’d say ā€œyou don’t want more of that skag head shit, do you?ā€

I love listening to good classic house mixes, but struggle funnily enough with up to date House mixes.
