jonattonyeah Not clubs, was too young, but 1997 or 1998. Not sure if those were released then but that’s when I came across them.
bosstrabs jonattonyeah Good reminder about Gene Farris, used to love that stuff, rinsed these compilations back when I got them… https://www.discogs.com/Gene-Farris-Textures-Vol-1/release/154498 https://www.discogs.com/Domenic-Cappello-Subversion/release/61071 (only one Gene Farris track but heavy on the sound)
jonattonyeah bosstrabs Yeah that Chicago house sound was huge around then. DJ Dan and Mark Farina living here and playing every weekend certainly helped. You lot were spoiled with the volume of quality DJ’s you had but we had a few good ones that kept us happy. The scene wasn’t huge like England but it was dedicated.
jonattonyeah 303abuser I got off to a young start and these were “raves” in warehouses and whatnot. Not proper clubs. We don’t have anything like that until you turn 21 sadly. Actually, Twilo was 18+ but that’s the only one I can think of.
Smallman1 Kells77 Miami….I was there for the Winter Music Conference that year. Ah right, thought it may have been in London and I was losing the plot.
Smallman1 Kells77 There is (was?) also one in Bangkok….been to that one too 🙂 I’ve been to the Bangkok one as well. Bed Supper Club. Went with two Northerners who spilt their food over the pristine white decor, the staff weren’t happy.
Kells77 Mad_Cyril Haha….ah, well I must have missed out on that one. Here’s a picture from the night in Miami, taken by my friend Trent. There were a LOT of old GU/4Four crew in attendance that night as well.
bosstrabs BED, a totally imaginative club name. The ’jing also had one… https://jp.ra.co/clubs/12324 As does Manchester in the Gary Village.
Kells77 bosstrabs I believe the idea came from Supperclub in Amsterdam….then they expanded to Miami, and after that the rest came along. I could be wrong though.
-si- jonattonyeah We don’t have anything like that until you turn 21 sadly. Actually, Twilo was 18+ but that’s the only one I can think of. How did that work, j? Thought you folks all had to wait until 21 to get into licensed premises?

bosstrabs jonattonyeah Can only imagine the state of that place. Bed Sheffield was quite good and had stellar lineups if you were into proper house music. The only problem was they built it for the superclub boom and it was an absolute barn that held about 2000 people, and it looked deserted even if about 750 (the capacity it should have been built for) were in there.
Smallman1 Kells77 How embarrassing for you lol They knew I was well travelled on the basis I was using chopsticks whilst the Northerners asked for a knife and fork. Couldn’t believe what I was seeing tbf.
