303abuser it takes a lot to get me to that level of enthusiasm for anything now.

Not even the end of year awards?

Smallman1 there are some exceptions of course. going outside without dying of exposure is about to be on that list too.

Dubman i’ve had it on all morning, it only works up to -20. it’s like summer windshield washer fluid.

Probably 2006, my first Bedrock @ Heaven venture, aged 19.

Just glad to have at least experienced a few nights at Heaven before it moved on to other venues like Fire & Lightbox which were shit.

I only ever attended Bedrock @ Heaven. Was a great venue and always a great crowd.

Though I was usually spangle-dangled in the Star Bar listening to someone like Ashley Casselle rather than the sweaty Digweed cockfest/vortex.

After some consideration, gonna plump for 98. Not for any particular tracks, just that I was at Uni, having at it night and day, amazing times with amazing people, Digweed’s 006 sound getting hammered, boss clubs up and down the country, I was still discovering a lot of music, it all felt very new and exciting still, think that is when I went from being a fan of dance music and electronic stuff to maybe falling in love with it, first decks and mixer, record collection started to grow in that direction, jumpers for goal posts, isn’t it, rush goalie, two at the back, three in the middle, four up front, one’s gone home for his tea.

bosstrabs Yeah, decent vibes in there. I loved Digweeds sets, but he just used to get heavier and heavier….proper banging. Like someone smacking two dustbin lids together.

              Dross like this….

I would say the same, for the same reasons, though it was 99 when I really hit my stride.

Included an absolutely glorious summer, a great Creamfields, and I successfully avoided the madness/stupidity of shit NYE watching Fatboy Slim in some tent on the Albert Dock (or the Gatecrasher event everyone complained about that cost about £100 to get in), instead going to a storming house party.

Dan Yeah, decent vibes in there. I loved Digweeds sets, but he just used to get heavier and heavier….proper banging. Like someone smacking two dustbin lids together.

From what I remember there was often a decent up and coming dj in there. I saw James Zabiela in there (2002?).

My mate warmed up for SOS one Thursday at Bedrock. Prob stayed in the Star Bar all night…Dakota Bar was the other room wasn’t it?

Heaven room 1 was uncomfortably hot as I recall. I remember retreating to room 2 one year and staying there to watch Desyn instead (whatever happened? )who has mustard. Snabeln, followed closely by Pennies from Heaven as I recall. Remember Desyn bossing room 2 at Gallery a few times. Top dj

Yeah, one of them always had a decent guest. The other one was often Phil Thompson (Moonface) back then.

Terminalhead/Tayo and the rest of Bedrocks breaks royalty in room 3

alistair Remember Desyn bossing room 2 at Gallery a few times

I can never remember which room number is which, or which arch number is which (at The Cross), but that smaller room at Turnmills has always been one of my fave rooms at a major club.

Always a decent crowd, always something interesting going on music-wise, and enough space to dance. Done about 4-5 hours in there a few nights.

                        bosstrabs Ashley Casselle

Got a great tape of him from Cream, warming up for Van Dyke when he was on Deviant. Plays that ‘Saturn’ tune I can never remember the name of.

Also responsible for Ashtrax - Helsinki so is automatically entered into the ‘epic breakdown hall of fame’.

Amps He was a decent dj, saw him bang it out a few times. Always progressed from breaks or a bit of vocal stuff at the start, through prog, into pure e-trance and bone-rattling techno. Just what you want really.

                          • Amps replied to this.

bosstrabs Seen Steve Lawler & King Unique doing their live shizzle in that room. Fucking ace.

Was at every Bedrock for around two years. Amazing nights. Clubbing done proper.

Used to just crash in the van afterwards and nearly electrocute myself the next day at work whilst wiring in. Either that or parking wardens tapping on the window telling me to move on. Messy.

Amps Yeah, sounds about right. Top bloke too, always said hello etc.

Although when I saw him he wasn’t playing warm-up for PvD, in which case he would have to be a bit more ‘polite’.

Didn’t go for a few years until it moved to XOYO.

Dubman i have sonos, so i have one playing in each room with video loop of digweed dropping heaven scent in groove on a giant projector.

bosstrabs yeah that smaller room in turnmills was great fun, remember one nye there was a Happy Monday’s dj set in it, my god Bez had fire in his eyes !! Had a photo of him somewhere was like he was possessed

Amps Plays that ‘Saturn’ tune I can never remember the name of.

Help me out people, come on, we’ve done this before!

                                  Hursty

Was that the Easter one? Diggers did a six-hour special from what I remember.

                                  Echo Excellent work chief!

                                  This mix. It’s basically muscular.

Toss up between 1998 and 2000 for me.

1998 for the music, 2000 for vibez.

Met a bunch of lifelong friends in the summer of 2000 - including wife to be. Hung out at the Cross coupla times a month as the sun crept above the garden fences at 5am. Best Ibiza trip I’ve ever had, and had an amazing time at a couple of the Summer festivals with the same folks. Had recently left uni, decent money in my pocket for the first time, and was seemingly capable of getting bollocksed all weekend, without feeling dramatic after effects.

1998 though was just the pinnacle for me in terms of music. I loved that progressive/trance sound at the time - Breeder at absolute the top of their game, a series of BiR remixes that blew me away every time I heard them. Was big into the Renaissance/GU sound at that time - and so lucky to see the likes of Nigel Dawson, Ian Ossia, Dave Seaman, Nick Warren, Sasha, Digweed etc on very regular rotations around London - as well as a host of lesser known DJs or residents that popped up all over the place. Was also the year of the first Bedrock parties at Heaven, which I went to as often as I could manage.

First heard this in 1998, though I think the full release was in ’99. Insane breakdown and drop when you’re buzzing.

Actually my favourite ‘Breeder’ production from 1998, but rich pickings.

1998 was a spectacular year for Brothers in Rhythm remixes. Too Far, Godspeed, It’s Over It’s Under, Uninvited, Special - all amazing in my eyes (to my ears…) The one I keep going back to though is the BiR rework of Without You I’m Nothing by Placebo. Just an incredible reimagining, and one half of ‘The best transition ever’ ™.

vinnyt77 great post. Really evokes similar memories. BIR remix of Placebo on right now. Brilliant. Bowie on vocals too
