Tyrant @ The Prince Bonaparte 1/9/1999
Yes, that was the same year.
…think Discogs is incorrect here, pretty sure baggers is right, Menace was Ollie (and another)
….odd that I can recall that, but not a single Menace/Swain & Snell record
They licensed this beauty
Dan …yeah, that was a nice track, had forgotten they released it, I have an import version I think.
They were super-generous with the promos… but not sure any of them made the cut when I sold off a lot of vinyl.
They rereleased a few bits of Euro stuff, Francesco Farfa and Chab, and Eagles Prey ’Tonto’s Drum’… not often with particularly strong remixes iirc. The only release I ever remember getting wide-ish play was Slacker’s mix of Clarkness (which wasn’t one of their best remixes either tbh).
The Compass Error remixes were superb

Tarentella Redanka!
When Smalls waffles on about Prog…this is kitchen sink prog.
…anyone listen to Sasha’s segment of that Sancho Panza/Carnival mix posted above?
Dan …yeah, was just thinking it was quite a year for ‘big’ tracks, Mercury & Solace, My Lexicon etc.
Seem to recall him playing the same stage possibly the year before… similar set, started with 20mins’ish of breaks before breaking out the prog. Remember hearing Koglin’s '‘The Silence’ etc.
Lawler used to love a Swain & Snell track.
Mainly drivel from what I can remember.
Been said?
Unbroken1 Yeah he did, I was there (as well as this one). I seem to remember some dickhead had smashed a sink off the wall in the toilets of the pub on corner.
Perhaps Smallsy thought he was in a kitchen?
does anybody have a the actual video hosted to share, of this set
baggers44 ….the wedge I spent on PF, Plastica, Plastica Red whites sends shivers down my spine. Love the Menace duds at the time . Ollie, Jonny and Luis were top blokes. Proper vinyl pushers. Bowling into them at Bedrock spannered. Having a top laugh. Halcyon days…..
Remember going in a spending a lot after a bedrock. After I had paid I noticed a hybrid record that I just purchased without listening to. The shock when I got home and noticed it was not the hybrid we all knew and loved at the time.
IndustryStandard I think they all packed it in and got proper jobs when the shop shut. I know Luis plays 00s house tunes on vinyl on UK Raw radio whatever that is….there’s a live stream once a week with about 4 listeners (might be a bit harsh)…Ollie went into design of some sort. That lad Desyn used to hang around there a bit with his mate Omid - nice lads ….all seem to have disappeared . Was like another life - time marches on never ending . as the song goes (King Unique remix).
Great thread, cool insights and stories.
