Was thinking of buying a xone 23c for recording some vinyl mixes as I can’t connect my old numark mixer to my laptop. Is it a good mixer for the price as it’s a few years old now or what would be an alternative option.

mono-stereo
Right then. Go for it definitely!!
I’m still learning and I probably have only just scratched the surface after a year, but then I only use it about ⅔ hours a week. And as I record every mix I tend not to fuck around too much with the fx. If you’re creatively minded I’m not sure there’s a better mixer available. You can basically create a new track with the fx by playing a track on loop through four channels and using a different effect on each channel-you can get lost doing this!!! Before you know it 20 minutes have passed!! Sounds ace at the time. Speaking of looping-I don’t use the onboard looper-not really a fan. It loops a section of the tune onboard but not from the actual player so once you’ve finished with it the actual tune playing is alot further along. A more proficient dj could probably work something out. Fx are immense-too many for me if I’m being honest. I only tend to use the delays and reverbs.Shitloads…infinite settings for each effect. It was a touch daunting to begin with but you soon get the hang of the basics. It’s a mixer that you’ll be learning new tricks with in years to come. For me the only drawback is the filters-you can’t ‘cue’ in headphones-so you can only apply when live. That’s the only drawback for me. Incredible mixer for creative dj’s and I’d strongly urge you to pull the trigger-1300 seems a bit steep though….

Thom_Fuckery Nice one. Sounds like it’s exactly what i’m after. £1300 was for a brand spanker btw, might wait and see if one comes up on fleabay.

The T8V’s finally on the way from Thomann. Who knew that in times of Covid19 the production might be a bit behind.

Also made the decision not to get the third deck (if I want to play Zach techno again (not bought any bangers in over six months), I’ll just get back to Traktor), so splashed a ridiculous amount of money to new DJ headphones and ordered the Phonon 4000s that Dixon and Ame use. Tried friend’s pair a year or so ago, and absolutely loved them (amazing sound and so light), but couldn’t then fathom spending close to 300 € on DJ headphones. Easier now, for all the money I saved not going out in the past 3 months. Also I doubt I’ll play much out in the future so they’ll be only used at home.

Home-disco done for now. Should a friend request another SL-1200 they can bring one if they want to play. The stuffed animals were my wife’s idea of hiding the cable’s from the direction of the sofa, and fuck it, it’s funny. Might get around to organizing them more nicely sometime around 2025 if I know myself.

    1 x Technics SL-1200 MKII
    2 x Pioneer XDJ700

    1 x Allen & Heath Xone PX:5
    2 x Adam Audio T8V (master output)
    2 x Adam Audio T5V (booth output)
    Phonon 4400-headphones
    Tascam DR-2-recorder.

Phil-McRackin Interesting framed film poster you have there.

It’s the Emmanuelle-soundtrack on vinyl actually. Bought it at a flee market for 2 € just to put it on the wall.

Haha, ever played it out?….just had a listen on youtube…very french.

Not even once. Bought it just for the artwork. It’s fun to have a woman with her tits out on our living room wall, when some poor souls decides to bring the kids to visit too. Like my brother.

Can’t remember the last time I had a woman with her tits out in my living room. 🙁

You lucky bastard. I’ve got a space at the end of the kitchen table and that’s the end of it.
