gcw Suppose it depends how you feel.
I hated playing tethered to a laptop, felt very sterile. But that’s just me, I prefer to just play. Having said that, you might still have to piss about a bit with files - I like to have the picture on my WAV so I can recognise it easier, like a record label / sleeve.
What i kind of got disconnected from with the DDJ400 is how small it was compared to a full sized setup, so going out and checking in the wild really helped me size my setup for the space I had (confirmed it would fit!!!). Some of the bigger controllers take up the same real estate as a separates setup.
I’d honestly go find a DJ Shop and have a play around, you can try loads of different shapes / sizes / setups and get a feel for what works best for you. I had a disaster recently with Allen & Heath Mixers because I didn’t try before I bought them, fortunately Bop DJ were amazing.
The obvious bonus of having a permanent set up is it’s less of a ball ache setting everything up, especially if you get limited time due to other commitments!
Finally, my broken record advice, don’t discount Denon. Not only a better price point but feature rich and way ahead of the curve for things like streaming if that’s your bag. Very intuitive on board SW and the updates just work 😀
Have fun looking!
