I totally get the excitement (‘tension’ as I’ve heard more pretentious-types describe it 
) of mixes drifting/being corrected, but to be honest, the tech has moved on to the extent that if punters from yesteryear heard mixes from today (even on CDJ’s, I’m not talking about Traktor/computer synced), they would sound pretty fucking flawless relative to whatever was possible on vinyl.
When planning a mix or just pissing about, there’s no substitute for mixing live, I’m a kit obsessive and have done LOADS of it this year, but equally I love the cleanness of flawlessly layering 2 (or more) tracks in Live and treating it like a production. If anything, it takes the emphasis off the mixing because you can’t hear when its happening much of the time., and like I said before, some of the best ideas for edits/mashups have come from it.
LT42 yeah i agree completely. i just couldn’t be bothered doing all of the track analysis, beat markers, cue points, etc. took all the fun out of it for me. if you’re playing minimal techno and the like, it’s probably great to be able to chop, add fx, re-edit on the fly, it’s just not for me.
The XZ is up and running - no explanation from Pioneer, but there must’ve been something wrong with the left jog wheel too - they feel both ridiculously different and super smooth.

Delay at 3/2, nothing else is needed efx-wise. And I say this just because I never mastered the use of reverb.
Just got the Link function to work between my laptop and XZ - opens up decks 3 & 4 too, which is near useless to me at present, but am absolutely delighted to have it in my locker.
Link was pretty straightforward in the end, you have to have Rekordbox closed on your laptop and wait until the XZ has completely started before opening it again. Took me fucking ages to work that out.
Probably your age Grant. Maybe take it to the Library next time, see if they have any classes for it 
As an aside, do you use the Rekordbox subscription thingy? Fancying the vocal detection but the Android app is shit.
However, will be going all in on the eye phone March / April as daughter will soon be of phone age.
If it’s any cop might buy now for vocal detection. I’d want both vocal detection and be able to edit on the go for my $
Mad_Cyril it was good, but I just didn’t really use it after a week or two when the novelty wore off - carried on with the subscription for three or four months and then cancelled. Not missed it. Don’t use vocal detection.
Got the iPhone 12 Pro and it’s very difficult to spot anything different to the 10 apart from the shape and 5G.

Interesting. You not use it to go through your tunes on the go? Doing so on a laptop feels time consuming against family time. Have a 10 year old so was hoping would give me more flex.
Also play a lot of house so more vocal heavy. Like the idea of being able to see when vocals drop - but will experiment with waveform types and see what that offers.
Prefer Samsung phones if I’m honest but when daughter gets one will likely be that basic eye phone or the touch. Would be easier and likely safer if all on the same platform.

I use the original Rekordbox app for that, but to be honest, when I’m out and about, I mainly listen to mixes.
