IndustryStandard Your mates are using four decks, they just don’t need laptops. I don’t get it at all
DJ setups/Mixer porn/New toys thread...
ScottBailey I always record with my Tascam DR1 from the rec output.
Homegrove Ok, cool. Will have a look at that recorder now. Cheers for that.
ScottBailey
Have a Tascam also SB.
As you are aware, it’s not idiot proof, but the sound quality is great when recording in stereo!
There are also:
- Tascam DR-05
- TASCAM DR-40x
I have the Tascam DR-40 which is an older version of the X. The 40 series also has an internal hi fidelity stereo microphone (so you can record crowd noise at the same time as the mixer).
The next level up for professional recording would be the Zoom H4n Pro because it has external outputs on the other side - meaning you can put it between your mixer, and your speakers, rather than that line being a dead end it is still used in the room.
There are certain times running events when this really would be handy.
Unbroken1 nice, which mixer are you on?
My recorder is from 2009, I am sure there are a lot better ones available these days for the same price. But it keeps trucking.
NasserAlazzawi all of Digweed’s Live In-albums were recorded with the Zoom.
NasserAlazzawi …Isonoe ISO420
Pretty much been exclusively a rotary diva since the mid-90’s

Knobs4lyfe Damo.
Not sure about the rose gold ones on the pioneer thing though - but chintzy for me.
But if it converts the likes of @NasserAlazzawi to team knobs then can only be a good thing!
You need a beard to substantiate your claim…
Unbroken1 Isonoe ISO420
mono-stereo …seen the new clear silver anodized?
Are the isos iso standard?
Unbroken1 lovely
My little discovery was just featured on Digital DJ Tips. I didn’t expect them to cover my post!

NasserAlazzawi Nice work Naz.
Bit of a leftfield topic, but anyone have any experience on wireless DMX? Seem to be a few options out there, with this one being made by Chauvet.
Is it any kop? I have a few T bars with lights that would benefit with a bit of wireless shizzle from location to location. I would want to combine with traditional dmx cables too.
IndustryStandard I wouldn’t be in any hurry to use them in an actual club, but at home I’d be all over them.
Amps …yeah, just home setup and the occasional party. Did a party the other week in London and took all my lights / DMC cables and ADJ MyDMX Go / Ipad App and in the end I just gave up and stuck them all on sound activated. Was a right mess trying to route all the cabling etc
IndustryStandard Yeah, I despise DMX, I’m amazed something hasn’t replaced it yet.
Amps The ADJ MyDMX Go + an Ipad with the app on it does the job pretty well. Gives you great control and presets .
Its all the cabling and faff thats gets on my nerves. Reckon within the next 3 yrs most new lights will be wireless DMX or some other standard.

I ventured into this world 2 years ago as I was being recommended to DJ weddings / corporate parties in Cyprus. Haven’t pursued it since coming to UK but I do know some of the basics.
I got by with rekordbox RB-DMX1 (meaning I had to DJ from rekordbox in performance mode) and used some T bars from Thomann but I’d like to expand on Lighting for my own events as I’m thinking of restarting them in unique locations.
RB-DMX1 has limits that Wolfmix and MyDMX Go probably don’t have (i think it cannot operate Gobos and Lasers). Lasers aren’t my thing but Gobos can be decent.
I’m also interested in video DJing / VDjing where pictures or videos move in sync with the music and can be triggered from midi controllers. Everyone in Newcastle atm is just doing basic small events in the same venues and I really want to give people an experience on top of good sets.

I fitted a gym (with about 11 DMX lighting systems linked) and it took us weeks to realise the reason it wasn’t working was:
- You need a terminator for longer DMX chains which stops an ‘echo’ from fucking with the signal as the cable goes longer and longer.
- In the final device, plug in one of these: DMX Terminator (it goes into a device’s Output)
Bedroom DJ and lights? The mind boggles.
Along_the_Wire To be fair, even if you just get lights set up at home it makes DJing in your own space more enjoyable!
I’d always set my lights up at home before any gig when using DMX. It’s a nightmare so you need to program the chanel’s in advance to save yourself even more setup headaches
IndustryStandard Did you get to the bottom of your problems? It can be fiddly
Yeah. I sorted it but its all a ball ache even when you’ve set your scenes up what with the cabling. Hence my questions around wireless DMX. When I have a few spare quid will pull the trigger on some of the Chauvert rechargeable packs of 4.
Looks very similar to the mastersounds range wonder will the sound profile be the same.
…had a feeling this might happen! UA were always wanting to make these on their own.
How come they’re so cheap? 1356 € for the four channel-version with the efx.
…UA selling them direct will definitely increase their margins, their own design, everything already R&D’d.
When people are wanting £6K+ for a 20 year-old V6, the prices look f’ing great.
I am not complaining, that’s for sure.
Nobody remortgaged the house and bought an original New York Urei yet? Im sure the cat would appreciate it.
ScottBailey What is it?
Along_the_Wire portable recorder. Was originally using a Behringer UCA222 into my laptop to record in Audacity, but this bit of kit is much less faff!
