Dan Def have that experience with Traktor as well, though sometimes all those features and possibilities just add clutter and complexity and more ways for things to go wrong. Which at first glance the DDJ-FLX4 with Recordbox looked actually appealing as it’s ‘stupid simple’. Simple but still has enough to have all one would need for just 2 deck mixing.

I will say that the build quality of any NI controller is solid, don’t know what that’s like for the entry level Pioneer stuff (anyone who knows can chime in).

2013 - CDJ-1000mk3 with Xone 92

2016 I had a brief stint with a Hercules DJControl Jogvision (Serato)
2016 - XDJ-RX
2018 - DDJ-1000 (very similar to FLX10 which adds stems)
2020 - XDJ-XZ
2022 - DDJ-FLX4 (backup for private gigs or mixing / practising in small spaces)

I’ve also had a go of DDJ-FLX6 (shite) and DDJ-REV7 (amazing)

Plus every CDJ known to man except the 100 and 400.

Morty-C-137 yes but they recently firmware updated it to include rekordbox, like they should have done the whole time!

I spoke to Mojaxx this morning about it and we were also both pleasantly surprised that Device Library Plus (now called OneLibrary) has finally made it to the CDJ-3000

It is unlikely Denon will join it but we definitely want it and so should they.

NI has announced Traktor Play… apparently.. not even on their own site yet. But they shared it with Gearspace I guess: https://gearspace.com/board/new-product-alert/1456593-native-instruments-announces-traktor-play-dj-software.html

I mean… at this point releasing separate versions and having to maintain that is more than likely a faff for them. Why not just get up to fucking speed and make the whole of Traktor 4 cross platform (mobile and desktop) and treat that as one product? Other manufacturers have gotten there and are also ahead on the stem isolation business and crush NI on the mobile platform.

Traktor DJ 2 which was their version of ’being mobile was pretty much abandoned.

Watched the MoJax review. What I took from that was you can analyze tracks in a better app ( DJPro) and the beat grids would get picked up on the CDJ……not re analyzed and translated into a RB grid. Thats pretty cool

Once Traktor get their update sorted, will be able to get all the analysis and playlists done on TP4 and just export/plug into the CDJ and bobs your uncle

Seeing is believing I suppose, but as I use Traktor and RB pretty much a god send

Algoriddm is ahead of the game here. This One Library development is smart. Traktor, though loning up to support One Library, is being left to eat dust platform wise.. probably will even just be a footnote in digital DJ’ing in 5 years.

Good gear, but them being what they are (NI), they can’t move fast enough on developing their software and fixing their technical debt.

And I don’t see being San Francisco Partners owned changing that as those type of inventors only care about the things that can lock peeps into a subscription. Pump out content.. make them subscribe.

Along_the_Wire I like Traktor for it’s loops, sound and sync (it’s a more easily usable Ableton for me usually). Then again DJeing with USB-sticks with CDJs feels more like “real” DJeing, and playing any guest spot with a laptop is an inconvinience to everyone. Best of both worlds.

Help! My vinyl decks are sounding a bit shit - they are old (like 20 yrs plus) but were refurbed by the deck doctor bloke a few yrs ago and sounded fine - but recently everything sounds tinny with the odd surge of noise and a bit of thwap…thwap in the background . I thought it was the cartridges but having just changed them it’s no better. I’m running them into an Alpha Recordings 4 rotary mixer (which is nice) and then into a Citronic compact mixing box which the speakers are plugged into. Any ideas as to what may be gong wrong , chaps? Could it be dodgy wiring - I have cleaned the records - they are all 20 yrs plus old but should still play ok right ?

In all seriousness though, try and find a proving unit first. Start at one end and work backwards. Sounds like you’ve got a few options to work with, so start with the speakers. Try them on a different mixer and CDJ/Controller setup. Prove the speakers are fine first. Then work backwards from there, testing a different mixer is fine with the speakers before then plugging in your rotary again. Use your CDJ/controller for the test if you know that’s fine, before putting your vinyl decks back on last. Bit of a ball ache, but it’ll help isolate the problem.
