…I took a punt on a bundle of bits from eBay last year, upgraded the drivers and cables, and build a 2nd bluetooth pair for my boy with the spares. Use mine as my everyday ‘listening’ cans… love them.
Amps …were you using the DJ set-up (on-ear/rugged headband) ones?
I bought the comfort headband and have the soft micro-fibre over-ear pads, they are great to wear… don’t use them for DJ’ing though
Unbroken1 I can’t remember exactly mate, I just remembered they didn’t last very long and where promptly given away. My overriding memory being that they got uncomfortable quickly. Possibly more to do with the shape of my head than anything.
deathbysmurf Absolutely standalone. Had a friend that recommended the XDJ-700s but managed to find a 450 bundled with 1000s. I don’t feel that there’s anything I am missing out on outside of the physical buttons included on the CDJs.
segwin Good to know. Until now I haven’t touched a CDJ since the early 2000’s, but I’m liking the 700 so far. Waiting for some Musician’s Friend points to unlock later this month so I can get a second unit, then the fun starts.
Unbroken1 The HK have been with me for the past several years. Before having any interest in mixing or intensive listening they were given to me as a gift. They get the job done. Might upgrade down the road considering their age. The XDJs are terrific. Feel that I made a good investment and am utilising pro-grade equipment while I practice. Much better than the Serato controller I was using previously.
Unbroken1 lol
I impulse purchased a Genelec 7050 CPM subwoofer whilst drunk last night. 800 quid on a sub. oops 😆
mono-stereo well played love stories like that
mono-stereo …LOL, excellent!
The Genelec subs are terrific… which speakers are you pairing it with?
Unbroken1 A much beloved old pair of 8030s.
..noice!
Managed to fix my hd25’s today and replaced the foam inserts and foam headband. Was so close to buying a new pair of headphones.
Dubman I’m in the same boat….I foolishly picked up the Adidas ones years ago. Kinda regret it now.
Dan I had a problem with the cable as the sound kept cutting out. I then watched a guy on YouTube and I fixed it in 5 mins. They now sound great again.
Been looking at buying some 1200s again. I sold my last pair when my son was born 9 years ago, and now reached middle-aged life crisis.
Shit me, they’re still expensive. £1400+ for a pair in decent condition. Jesus wept.
mjh Wow that is expensive. I only paid £600 for my pair of 1210’s a long time ago. Have you looked at those Pioneer decks what Grant has.
mjh I bought a 1210 mk2 in the first lockdown and was also a bit taken aback by the prices - and probably overpaid. I think it has a bit to do with the new mk7s being 700/800 and the mk2 etc market reaching up towards that.
Dubman XDJ-XZ…
Along_the_Wire Thought you bought a pioneer turntable as well.
Dubman of course that’s what you meant - yeah, just one, but nothing to compare it too as never mixed with vinyl before
Anybody else not really liking the HD25’s? I find the them flimsy & light, and the cup is too small.
seanc80 Yes, but persisting with as have my peepers on some Denons and a rotary
seanc80 I like duel headband and the size of them. Great for traveling as well. Wouldn’t call them flimsy myself.
