Controversial opinion incoming:
I never bother with brown sauce now, as both those imports are pointlessly expensive here. Less expensive is A1 steak sauce, which is crap. However, now that I don’t bother with it, I cannot think of a single dish that is actually improved by brown sauce. Not one.
Bacon sarnie? Actually, a bacon and egg sarnie with a runny yolk to counter the dryness is far superior.
Steak? A good steak doesn’t need any sauce, and only a heathen would use brown sauce on a steak.
Sausages? Sausages and mash are way nicer with a homemade gravy.
