I have grilled eel all the time here at sushi gaffs. It’s one of my favs. Unagi Nigiri as it’s known is grilled over coals and it’s fucking mint. 👍 I actually ate it by accident at a sushi train, it went past, I liked the look of it, ate it, then asked what it was.

What i don’t want is an eel gravy poured over pie and mash. Get into the fucking sea with that shite!

Big fan of pie and mash and, although I think the pie itself is generally superior in the north, I actually prefer the mash accompaniment over peas.

Growing up my grandad would catch eels in the canal, cover it in flour and fry it with garlic butter and chili. Was fucking mint too. I stand by jellied eel being one of the most putrid things I’ve ever eaten though. Made me heave.

Had eels a lot in Brittany and Normandy. They dredge in seasoned flour, fry in butter, deglaze with Calvados. Add cider and reduce. Add creme fraiche, and finish with some chervil or tarragon. Fucking lush.
