SM001 I’m intrigued, you always produce a 5 for Friday list (which is appreciated to listen to new music). Do you buy lots of new music? And do you DJ at all? Or is this part of your role as a guru of delivering a tracklist for any dj set.
Only asking as all the others who do this are sharing DJ mixes they do and often wondered if you do the same but I haven’t seen them.
RichM I don’t buy much music. Maybe around 10 tracks a week. I hung up the headphones 10-15 years ago. I found less time for it with family responsibilities etc. I hope to get back into in the future as i’m finding more time over the past few years to really get stuck into it. It used to take me a week or two to put together a 90 min mix. Watch this space, Rich!
SM001 I look forward to the future mixes. Fair plays for still buying that amount of tunes each week. I buy very little, mainly because I feel I appreciate a lot of this music we all love, in a mix rather than listening to tracks by themselves. Hence why I have a lot of appreciation of what a lot of our board members do making loads of mixes.
Sorry for the questions, was intrigued.
RichM Not at all, Rich. Appreciate the interest. Any tunes I put aside for purchase I always try and listen to the whole track before buying it. A track can sound great in a mix you’ve heard but not so great on its own and vice-versa; Many a track i’ve passed on and then heard it in a mix later on and gone ‘Fuck! I should have bought that!’
