    • Woah. This is still going? Surely this is my most successful thread ever. [pats self on back]

      • Millsy Hehe. I think I inhaled too much insense and patchouli from all of the Burners.

I happen to love that track and it was brand spanking new when I played it. Yes, it’s cheesy as fuck but it also packed out the dancefloor with women so I wasn’t complaining. 35 years of DJing has taught me that if you can get the lay-deez on the dancefloor, that you will soon have a full dancefloor and a much easier night playing lesser known tracks and not clearing it.

      • bosstrabs I’m guessing it’s in Smallman’s Revolut account or it’s gone up his nose? Maybe I should get in touch with The Met and file a report?

      • seanc80

A man can dream, eh Comer? Surely I’m huge enough of a name to open for Nick Muir? 😉

      • bosstrabs

I only use them to run and the ones you speak of have now been relegated to my lawn mowing/yard work trabbs. I’ve updated the Jaded Clubbers footwear spreadsheet accordingly.

We’re safe for now. Sadly, my very competant and engaged MP wasn’t re-elected due to split votes.

And now back to your regularly scheduled club night…

      • Millsy surviving - barely. Since I played for a while I got to chuck in a few well known tracks. 😉

      • Hey All,

Been a minute. I just thought I’d pop in to post a mix (and take the piss of course) I recorded last summer.

Here’s a DJ set I recorded last year from the annual REKINDLING festival ast summer from a cool annual festival in my hometown of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. It’s a free festival held outside a local brewery hosted by a bunch of Burner types with DJs all day and a sound exemption from the city. The sound system they brought in was immense! It was my son’s first ever time seeing me DJ. I played for three hours and this is the last 90 odd minutes.

Breaks, afro house, progressive house, melodic techno, some unreleased tunes from yours truly and a techno classic to finish it all off! I’d love to hear your thoughts.

        • Get Ed Smallman to crowdfund and fly me over and host me to play the warm up slot.. Oh wait… He rescinded his offer to crash at his manor and is still holding on to that cash!

Would love to play a future one if possible… Especially as I may be looking to move if Pierre Polievre gets elected Canadian Prime Minister today.

          • Smallman1 Isn’t the lead singer of Arcade Fire meant to be a bit handsy?

He has been accused more than once, yes. Fortunately, he’s the American component of the band.

          • mono-stereo Arcade Fire are Canadian? I also assumed they where British. Not sure I like them anymore.

Yep. Formed and lived in Montreal for years, but now residing in New Orleans. Their lead singer is American but his missus is Canadian and so are the rest of the band.

          • 303abuser The provincial electoral map shows you all you need to know. Edmonton is an orange island while the rest of the inbred hicks vote conservative agains their own best interests. I have a policy of ignorance when it comes to this province until calgary decides to vote for someone reasonable.

I mean, they did vote in a progressive mayor pretty consistently which creates a bit of minor hope. It would be nice to see him win the provincial NDP leadership - which I think he will. The ‘problem’ is he’s brown and Muslim, so I unfortunately I doubt he’ll lead your province as premier.

Alberta is the Texas of Canada. It’s full of immense beauty but sadly populated by a bunch of weapons carrying them. It’s also worth mentioning that they have the largest single polluting project within the northern hemisphere in the Athabascan oil sands.

It has some pockets of progressive thinkers, but considering who they’ve elected as their most recent premier, they’re not doing well to squash stereotypes from within the rest of the country.

There’s a pun about Canada beating Colombia and British Columbia in here somewhere. I’m just not there… yet.

              • hugopal

I fired off a few. Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, Delirium, Stars, Feist, Lights, Oscar Peterson… The list is long and many.

I’d rather bore you all with Canadian women’s football.

We’re through to the quarter-finals. As we should be. Much ado about nothing.

              • The Court For the Arbitration of Sport knocked back our appeal, so that means we’re still down 6 points. We’re playing Colombia right now and if we don’t win, we’re done. If we win, we’re through.

So far it’s 0-0 at the beginning of the second half…

Until the men’s team’s more recent success, they were the media darlings and consistently out-drew the men’s attendances and sold out stadiums. I believe it’s the CWNT who still hold the attendance record for ‘soccer’ in Canada, so I beg to differ. I dare say more people are likely to know who Christine Sinclair is over Alphonso Davies or Jonathan David - and rightly so.

I watch and cheer them on, but it’s definitely a slower and more frustrating watch.

Based on the media coverage the CWNT are getting here and worldwide, the press and headlines would have you believe it’s the only sport we’re competing in at the Olympics

It’s a massive fucking place. Some parts are shit like Alberta, dead horse Ontario border towns, Quebecers when they slight you for speaking English, etc. Other parts are amazing - like Alberta’s portion of the Rocky Mountains. The Cabot Trail out east is stunningly beautiful, British Columbia is gorgeous from top to bottom (except the East End in Vancouver). Quebec City is the oldest city in North America and makes you feel like you’re standing in the middle of Europe. Montreal is the food capital of the country and has one of the best nightclubs in the world with Stereo. Toronto is a melting pot of all cultures from all around the world.

It’s a pretty decent place to live - albeit much more expensive in the major population centres than you’d think your £ would go.
