I had a brilliant day/night in Glasgow on Sunday at the Skyline event on the roof terrace of a Radisson hotel.
Got in there about 2.30pm, it was very quiet but it was good to have a drink and a chat with my mates for a bit before Jamie Stevens came on at 4pm for 3 hours. Have to say he was fantastic, a lot of his own productions and remixes and real 4/4 heavy beats - I was surprised at how ‘peak’ it felt but I wasnt complaining. Crowd was starting to grow throughout the day.
Pole Folder then did 7-9pm and tbh I wasnt feeling it, he took the vibe straight down with some melodic stuff and I think he benefitted from people being a few drinks deep as he did keep the dance floor busy - we used part of that time to get some food before coming back.
Pappa then came on at 9pm. Like Jamie Stevens, he was absolutely fantastic. Tune after tune after tune, with the usual impeccable mixing (he is a very ‘busy’ DJ, constantly moving about the box and checking stuff etc). It felt like every tune had some kind of minor vocal or eerie vocal in the background, which really added to the vibe as the sun went down. By this time the place was busy, no real room on the dancefloor. Jamie Stevens then came back about midnight and played a few more B2B and then Pole Folder cam back about 1am ish for a bit (all 3 of them).
All in all a great event - superb venue and a really friendly crowd of about 150 and it felt like there were a lot of people who knew each other. I should add, I was very surprised at the age profile. It was an old crowd, there were definitely 5 or 6 people in their 70s for sure.
After 4 hrs kip it was back to the airport and home by 10.30am. Fortunately the missus has taken the kids to Dorset for a week so I have the place to myself LOL. What a result.
I managed to have a quick word with Jamie Stevens (love his music), Super Progressive (seemed a nice guy) and Pappa - who was really affable and was chatting to everyone. We’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for future Skyline events for definite.
