Literally unlistenable.
Horrendous isn’t it, think I lasted 30 minutes.
You know what you are going to get with Aphex Twin, complete madness. He is definitely a marmite artist. Personally I think he is a bit of a genius, and love the randomness of his live sets
Have seen him 3 times now, every sets gets progressively worse.
Suspect Hugo loves him.
Smallman1 Suspect Hugo loves him.
Correct.
No surprise you can’t stand him given he regularly ventures well above 126 bpm.
Was really looking forward to seeing him especially in light of his new EP, but it mainly sounded like a herd of elephants falling down the stairs and much of the crowd left early. Jon Hopkins smashed it and was the highlight of the day for me.
It’s the absolute awfulness I struggle with.
AFX is a properly annoying artist. He’s produced some amazing tuneful music, and panning through that video there are snippets in there I love…..but then it all goes potty. Maybe thats the point. Pendulum of musical styles and challenging the audience etc etc , but majority of that set is as per @alistair ’s astute summary.
Am looking forward to seeing Dj Sprinkles and Soichi Terada on Sunday I must say.
Smallman1 Dj Sprinkles and Soichi Terada
Will be proper Bo that Edwand 💪
Norman Jay “Good Times fun bus” Sunday at Ally Pally. Lots of old tracks you’ve heard a thousand times……bring it on! Booked a night at The Hoxton too . Fingers crossed the weather holds out
The Strokes and Yeah Yeah Yeahs at APE for me on Friday
RichM The Strokes and Yeah Yeah Yeahs at APE for me on Friday
Is it 2003?!!
RichM The Strokes
They are mint live. One of the best bands I’ve seen.
Looks like I’m the only one going to anything decent over the weekend.
Smallman1 I take it your not going to maiden voyage anymore then?
Someone’s finger is seriously not on the pulse!
hugopal it’s 2023 now
Wally This is from 4 years ago, so not recent, and a B2B
And there’s this from before lockdown, and the end of a set in Berlin
alistair saw him at Big Love in 96…. Brilliant.
Cankles-McJeggings Me neither, I bought his Bedrock cd many years ago, Luke Fair’s was brilliant, I could not even get to the end of Desyn’s and I tried on many occasions
All about Jonathan Lisle’s. Luke Fair’s was decent too like.
Wally All about Jonathan Lisle
Long been a fan of the additional production on it (as I did it) 🙂
One day I’ll revisit and polish up the finishing track I wrote for it (but wasn’t used).
