Daley was around for Rhythm and Stealth too, but I kinda agree about that album, always thought it was a bit incoherent. Phat Planet got prob the biggest reaction of the night, but that big breakbeat and distorted bassline aside, I’ve never really felt its a track that goes anywhere.
Like Leftism R&S was an advertisers dream, they must have made a fucking fortune from film/tv sync regardless of how commercially successful it was…. I’d argue that the strongest tune on R&S isn’t as good as the weakest on Leftism.
I’ve listened to more recent stuff too, and enjoyed one or two bits…. seem to recall liking Universal Everything when I heard it, but I couldn’t fucking hum it, and have no idea if they played it the other night or not.
