Wally He was acquitted of a rape charge in c. 1995/1996 or thereabouts. His barrister reckoned there was more to it that the CPS barrister simply couldn’t prove.
It was (interestingly, or not - depending on your perspective…) the case that stopped me from wanting to pursue a career in law. Couldn’t get my head around how my mum’s mate, a genuinely good guy, could defend someone who he thought could well be guilty of the rape charges.
