Kumquat true, and as with all things Sasha does, the expectation is high.

Someone needs to remind Sasha what the 808 and 909 are. It’s like he goes out of his way to come up with lack lustered percs.

zackster he should be made to watch this a few times, that might help

It reminds me of that video Sasha made to plug Involver 3 where he was standing in his garage with some kid (was it scuba?) talking about all the complex ableton drum programing they were getting into. Lots of layering of hits, phased hats, and constant panning, ex ex ex. He still seems to be very much focused on that style of production, and fair play if that’s what keeps his interest, but for me it does absolutely nothing. Furthermore, all of those ableton kits have plenty of Roland groove box samples in them, so it takes some effort to curate a label around tracks that clearly leave those sounds out. I have to assume he thinks they are over used/beaten to death, but for me the 909 hi hats are still the single most effective sound in all of dance, ambient electronic, or otherwise.

Tbf, Involver 3 was the definitive sasha album and absolutely perfect in every way.

That Involver 3 period was particularly bad for Sasha.

Everything he was making and playing was absolute dog shit.

Bit like Millsy’s chug phase which he’s now been in for what feels like 25 years.

Dan Noodling is what he does.

lol this is the perfect word for it. I think he likes looking at all of the automated controls causing the lights and knobs to fly around. It’s like demo video mindset.

Dermo’s “Chug” avatar with the guy with the gun in his mouth crying made me laugh every time I saw it.

Thought that would hit a nerve!

          And boy was I right!

Millsy coming back with 1.5 hours of 140bpm loop techno would really send a message

Really like the Lau.ra track. Can see it being a bit marmite though. MJ Cole’s is instantly forgettable

Both sound like the record is stuck.
