Millsy Steady Ed my son, you’ve only just got the kettle and toaster

I am rocking and rolling Millsy, literally cooking on gas!

I bought one of these beasts about 3 years ago. It’s amazing. Has a tray that sits underneath the coals that collects all the ash etc so you can slide it out and empty it easily

Only paid £150 for it too

Took the words out of my mouth. Considering your current run of form Edward, I suggest you get involved with one of these too…

With a little imagination, something you lack, one can do everything (and then some) with a good pizza oven.

Providing you have a Dropbox account LT, can synch your grills to your hearts content

You get what you pay for with a BBQ. Half of these things won’t hold heat consistently for a pork shoulder or get hot enough for a rib eye. Pay the money and you’ll have it forever.

Nobody ever said I wish I’d gone cheap instead of the 1200’s.

Spending on a quality grill is the disc 2 of life.

Cooking a brisket in a pizza oven might get you murdered in Texas.

Not that it takes much, mind.

Honestly think it’s not a bad idea.

jonattonyeah Cooking a brisket in a pizza oven might get you murdered in Texas.

Lol. Or a free tow tied to the back of a pickup!

      Can control the temp too.

Old-Dutch The Aldi one looks better imo. £75 cheaper too

        Sadly not in stock.

Will pull the trigger on the Argos one.

          Can’t go wrong with Weber

Completely disagree with this. Have never used a hybrid myself but my bbq is capable of cooking anything. You have vents on the sides and a lever to raise or lower the height of the coals. Just means you need to be more hands on -which is kind of the point of a bbq no?

You can stick anything directly on top of the coals to sear it and them move it away from the direct heat to the other side. Keep the lid down and let the heat do it’s thing

              Mad_Cyril

Place not far from here does just incredible brisket and short ribs. After going vegan for January it was the first place I went. I almost had an erection.

                Old-Dutch

Yeah you’re right. Probably spoke to strongly. I just think the satisfaction from buying quality outlasts the happiness from saving money. You buy a Green Egg, you have that forever. It’ll stand up. Never seen one of those on the side of the road for free. Other grills I have.

When my current BBQ gives up the ghost I’ll certainly look at something higher end but reckon there’s a few more years in it yet. It’s a fucking tank

There’s a funny doc about this guy who was VERY AGGRIEVED FEWMIN and bought a steam roller, reinforced it with steal and concrete, and proceeded to demolish an entire town. He died so I guess that’s sad but I appreciated the effort.

                  Here’s his “Tank”

                  AMERICA!

It had a gun attached, obviously.

Okay just looked it up, it’s called “Tread”.

It’s not the best doc but enjoyable if you need 90 minutes to kill if you’re under the weather or something. Him going bananas and the police being completely incapable of stopping him is just flat out funny. He was so angry.

Have heard grate things about electric igniton charcoal BBQ’s

Mad_Cyril I bought the ooni 3 last May, great bit of kit. I’ve only done pizzas and flat breads, naans in them. Need to get a cast iron pan to cook some other stuff in it.

                        Cheers Jon.

Quick search shows on Sky & Amazon for UK folks.

Not sure for our Euro colleagues, your TV companies still likely haggling over a ‘deal’

Really keen to use it as a Tandoor

Game changer if I can get it going

Any old cast iron griddle/skillet thing and you’re in a whole world of goodness 👍

Depends how many people you wanna cook for IMO. I use gas during the week over the Summer when I just wanna cook a quick dinner for Mrs Vin and me - and Weber’s go anywhere gas bbq is perfect for that. Portable, so we take it camping as well.

If you’re cooking for bigger numbers, my Dad’s Weber Spirit II is decent. Good temperature control, and gets plenty hot to cook whatever you want. I’d suggest getting a dedicated thermometer (ambient temp, + meat) as the temp gauge built into most bbqs is shit.

At the weekend, I can’t fathom why you wouldn’t take the little bit of extra time and get a charcoal bbq. Food tastes SO much better over charcoal, and it doesn’t take much effort to learn how to light a fire properly and maintain the right temperature, whatever you’re cooking.

I’ve used a Dancook kettle for the past 10 years and it’s been an awesome bbq. Replacing it when we move with a Masterbuilt Gravity grill, which is even awesomer…

                              Mad_Cyril

Like I said, MC, it’s not perfect. But worth a watch. If for nothing more than him building a literal tank. Nobody died so I don’t find any issues with the hilarity.

                              Great advice.

                              But this is for Smallman.

Cremating a few Richmonds and Findus ¼ pounders is going to be a steep learning curve

Mad_Cyril some cast iron won’t work as the coating won’t cope with the high temps.
Tandoor chicken should be great in these, I’ve done a few tandoori chicken pizzas and they are lovely

                                jonattonyeah
watched this a few weeks ago on Sky documentaries. It’s a very slow build up until it all kicked off. well worth a watch though. Did fell sorry for him at the end.

Old-Dutch these chimneys get so incredibly hot 🔥. I still have a perfectly round hole in my drive as I left mine burning too long while mashing a few continental lagers with my neighbour. We were both sniffing the air wondering why the council was resurfacing the road on a Sunday afternoon lol

Millsy correct there stuff is excellent, few mates have there smokers they are really good

Millsy Same same. Emptied hot coals into the BBQ and put the empty chimney straight down onto the brand new (like, about 3 days old) patio stones in our back garden, leaving a perfect circle burn mark. Not my proudest moment.
