Interesting article. I was wondering the same recently. Between 2008 and 2019 tech house pretty much overtook the newcastle underground music scene.
I felt like it wasn’t bad until it became that more uniform standard and some old early 2000 “tech house" that I can’t even name used to be amazing on the rare recorded set I would hear.
