zackster Along_the_Wire The 49ers are the emperors new clothes. Purdy isn’t their answer. Eagles to win that one. Currently home underdogs according to Vegas. Opportunity knocks for one with your optimism!
vinnyt77 zackster Can you explain American betting odds to me please Zacko? Genuinely non-plussed at what these numbers actually mean….
Smallman1 The Eagle are 10-1 Vinny. That means if you put £1 on and they win, you’ll get £10 back. Hope that helps!
zackster The spread is the easiest to follow. The Eagles are being given 2.5 points. So they can lose and still payout. Its a very disrespectful line imo.
vinnyt77 zackster So, the bookies are saying they think the 49ers are gonna win by 2.5 points or more?
Along_the_Wire vinnyt77 it’s a standard spread for similar teams with the home team being the marginal favourites. I had some cracking bets at the weekend - bought Dallas at 11.5 and they won 45-10 at £3 a point and bought Texas at 16 at £5 a point and they won 57-7
vinnyt77 Along_the_Wire So for Dallas, your return was £70.5, right? 35 point win, minus 11.5 spread = 23.5 x £3 per point?
vinnyt77 zackster I hope we aren’t ruining Vin’s life here No chance. Along_the_Wire Love spread betting, especially on the NFL. Unrelated, which site do you use, and is there a maximum bet?
Along_the_Wire vinnyt77 I use Sporting Index - they’re the best one. Most spread bets are capped - NFL is capped at 40 points - bit of a shame the other week when I was on Miami and they scored 70. Betfair allows to bet on a handicap that uses the spread - great for an acca boost
