Hi gang,
Some changes are afoot, and it’s about time my Melodicast project had a one-thread home!
Many of you have given me a chance at some point, some staying the whole journey. You’ve allowed me to keep on posting back when I didn’t originally know any of you, which I appreciate.
Melodicast has been weekly on Sunday afternoons to lift our spirits exploring new music and promos, with an occasional classics set thrown in. With gigs opening up for me in Cyprus (Sunday afternoons are a thing here) along with some events I’m running back home in Newcastle UK, I may need to change up how we do things.
I love doing this (and learning some basics about videography) and wish to continue, so I’ll probably stream from every gig I can, record them where I can’t video, and do a “standard” Melodicast around real gigs. More on that in the updates further down.
I thought I’d centralise the links all replays in case you want to follow/subscribe, and find good free downloads that I come across - its all free. I don’t notify everything I do with the scene in here so feel free to connect.

What next?
Now that the end of lockdown is in sight, we aren’t restricted to me DJing from home and I can potentially introduce you to some local talent who share the same ethos, as guests.
I like using Social Media as a tool to bring together the right people. I’ve had a lot of time to connect to everyone. Yet, I haven’t found a single DJ in Cyprus who plays along the lines of what I do. Those on my vibe seem scattered in places all over UK, Russia, some of Europe and South America. So the closest DJs I have found will bring a refreshing change, too. You won’t just be getting another me.
For such a bright Sunny island, the Cypriots like their Prog dark and moody here, with a few into the slower 105-110 bpm ethnic / oriental downtempo affair.
A few episodes ago, I had a goal in mind to develop the stream for everyone and start broadcasting from different locations in Cyprus - there are stunning beaches, mountains, cliff edges, scenes full of beauty where there is no power but actually… really solid 4G (LTE). Most of the first 20 shows I did were tethered using this, because we can get daft mobile speeds here.
I researched how I could pack my gear up, drive somewhere and Stream alone and found a device getting some hype in America - a “Halo Bolt A/C 58,830 MAH” portable battery that has the ability to run the DJ equipment on it’s own for an entire set. Only they were sold out everywhere.
Last weekend I found one for sale on this Island (rare, they aren’t sold here) so I put it out to the audience that if they liked the idea and wanted to optionally donate towards it they could.
I thought it would take several shows to hit the goal, people’s situations are all different and even with my running costs I don’t expect money on streams.
We got half way to the target by the end of that stream, and then someone who wants to remain annonymous donated the entire difference (after his original donation) to get it over the line which was unbelievably kind (thank you so much).
So whilst I’ll always endeavour to bring you my take on amazing new music, and it won’t be every single week, we’ll be able to travel together around Cyprus and I’ll always push to take you with me to real gigs via streaming when possible.
I will also upload some video-only material to my Youtube Channel - it’ll be apparent why I do it - so be sure to subscribe to the YT channel.
I’m really looking forward to the next phase, things are going to get interesting!
