Smallman1 you wouldn’t know if you were coming or going with two tuners.

Lols all around for Millisey and Edward.

Turns out I was miss sold on the double tuners, doesn’t work quite as advertised.

Smallman1 lol. The salesman will still have you buying at least one additional tuner and lock you into some sort of watertight contract for six years.

At least then there would be something watertight in that flat of his.

The pouch, like my bants, is tiiiiiiiiiight!

Amps went for a Sony Wankman

This site/Youtube channel have some pretty good insight and reviews.

Amps Rumbelows got a sale on?

Dan Not that I know of, but John Lewis do.

Not gonna lie, I fuckin hate the sound out of modern TVs. Watching Homes Under the Hammer shouldn’t be some visceral audio experience, Dion’s baritone doesn’t need to be some reproduction of Leftfield at Brixton with a bag of doves. This newy isn’t too bad now I’ve equed the fuck out of it, but it’s still a bit of a nonsense. The manufacturers and their desire to be ‘cinema like’ can fuck off.

Mad_Cyril Almost certain Edward is your go to for creepy underwear and inappropriate public behaviour. I’m good for obscure 90s breakbeat and bleeding edge trabs.

Amps Couldn’t agree more, but not sure if it’s the TVs or the sound mixing on the actual program/film.

I really struggle to hear dialogue over and above the surround effects even with the speech enhancements on. US films are the worst, with accents and actors just mumbling their words. Really takes the joy out of many files as you have to turn the volume back down again when the effects kick in so you don’t wake the dead.

Or my years in the bass bins of Gurnmills have finally caught up with me .

IndustryStandard Nah, the difference between the newy and the oldy here is stark. It’s the TV, nothing to do with the source material or your ears. On the newy nearly all music has a low thud or rumble to it and it’s just fuckin irksome as it jars with the rest of the audio. Better now equed, but still not as good as the oldy.

Sony actually have a ‘speech enhancement’ option, as if to admit ’our speakers are so fuckin overly dynamic and bass heavy, we’ve had to add in compensation so you can watch a normal TV show’.
