The M1 Mac Mini is a ridiculous piece of kit now looking at the benchmarks, especially in the graphics space. The Intels were just thermally throttled to hell in the end as Apple didn’t want any fans to run and spoil the “vibe” of owning a Mac.

Plus you can keep your screens/KB/peripherals using the Mac Mini. You’d also get about 100 quid off is you get an official Apple Refurb one

IndustryStandard i was joking with my post, but that’s exactly what i’ve read. wasn’t sure given there are still software compatibility issues, but it looks like everything that’s designed to run natively is really efficient. i’m going to wait a few months just to let some of my plugins catch up, but it’s a no-brainer for me.

303abuser I’ve got an M1 Mac book pro and the thing screams. Very impressed with Apple silicone. That battery usually lasts a week between charges.

If you want local backups buy a synology nas and bung 2 disks in using a raid 1 mirror.

Mad_Cyril BELIEVE IT OR NOT, IBM still make tape libaries. Used to have one at a place i used to work at. Big old cage with a robotic arm in the middle that moved the cassettes about.
