I have the older version of KRK Rokit 5’s. For anybody that has these, what settings on the back do you normally use? Since i moved them to a different space they haven’t quite had the same impact, not as much of a deeper sound. Im reading reviews that some users have the volume up to the max on the back with a lower sound coming through the mixer. Anybody else do this?

Do they have rear-facing bass ports? If they do, and are closer to the wall now, you could be getting some reflection issues?

I’ve got 6 G3s and tend to have the speaker volume on the lower side and use the controller for volume control

Maybe stop playing insipid ethno-bilge and get some music with more minerals?

        Fucks sakes

Mad_Cyril Looks like you’ve got one the wrong way round.

Turn one round so both facing you and you’ll be grand

        A lol for MC!

You need a bank of these mate. They’ll blow the roof off!

Old-Dutch In all seriousness, this is probably the right answer unless the speakers have been moved or new furniture added/taken away from the room.

It’s taken me until recently to understand how to balance volume vs. boosting towards the reds even if red is invisible. If too much energy/noise is going down a cable it basically squashes the sound into something that doesn’t sound as good - just very loud.

Like blowing down a straw there is a limit as to how much can be sent down it at any one time - so if you make the DJ equipment operate around 0db and then turn the volume up at the back of the speakers after that, you might find it sounds better. You could also try again from -6, and if still not sure try +6 with the volume lower on the speakers and see which of these are the right balance.

I’ve heard that these ride a bit more on the BASS side opposed to the similarly priced JBL models. I myself have two JBLs mounted a bit above ear level in my living room and have the speaker volume set at 9:00. I use a DJM 450.

All settings should be set to 11. Hope that helps.
