I’d get the XDJ XZ over either if you’re happy with a Pioneer mixer. No contest. Otherwise I don’t see much point in paying double for a bigger size, and flac support with the single XDJ-players. I’ve played with both a lot, and no way is the bigger size worth the extra 600 € for a single player.

I think people of our age grew up knowing that there was never really an alternative to the 1210, and Pioneer latched into this with the CDJ.

Not sure that’s the case anymore. I’d be tempted to go for a pair of Denon SC6000 players, they look like a real alternative.

    My first set of decks was the Vestax PDX-2000. I absolutely loved them and always struggled with the Technics I replaced them with. The torque and responsiveness on the Vestax was much, much quicker and responsive. I’ve never really got to grips with my Mk5s truth be told.

    In hindsight, I wish I’d never changed them as I reckon I’d have definitely continued to play them a damned sight more than the Technics.

          Old-Dutch I went from 1200s to the original PDX 2000s and never looked back. 21 years later they are still going strong.

          Just bought xdj700s and they are ace. Less features than the 1000s but are intuitive to use and a lot of fun. Would have bought 1000s but thee were none in stock at the time.

            Get yourself some 3000s and never look back. This has been an Amps industry standard message, you can thank me later.

            I have an XDJ-1000 MK2 (2) and DJM 450 setup and enjoy that I can potentially upgrade the mixer and add a CDJ 2000 to my setup down the road. Have a friend that has a Xone : DB4 XDJ 700 (2) and a CDJ 2000. Its the kit that he has been traveling with as well as setting up at local bars when he plays out. Alot of the heavy loop and beat jump work is done on the CDJ opposed to the 700 but he comments that he does not feel much is sacrificed by cheaping out on the two multiplayers. I mix FLAC files that I download through a stream rip software and preferred the size of the 1000MK2 multiplayers as no plans to purchase a single CDJ 2000. My recommendation is to start at your library and determine the number of files that would be compatible with the 700. Next look into the number of “bundles” that may be out there on ebay etc. The XDJ products are fun to setup, space out, scale-up and allow for the club experience on a bedroom setup. I’d explore the above recommendation of the XZ, am sure that it is quality but will point out that it’s resale may not be as good compared to dumping off a XDJ 700 or a 450 as you jump for additional gear as you progress.

            EDIT: Oh, no way to “cheat” by seeing stacked waveforms in the XZ UI if going with the standalone products versus a controller.

              I’ve played on all of these mate and own an XZ.

              If it can throw it’s hat in the ring, the XZ wins - there is no contest.

              Have a go on one if you can. I take mine to gigs sometimes and get small hire fees, too. But it looks and feels the part and professional DJs coming from nexus set ups really enjoy using it.

              Edit. I would argue that the Denon SC6000 separate units are better than this but then you are back to 3 units.

              Personally I don’t know any club owners or promoters installing any Denon. J00F has started appearing with them in clubs. The only DJs using Denon who I know are bedroom DJs. After this last year no one is buying new gear.

              So I stuck to pioneer. Denon are too late to the game to be honest. And the CDJ-3000s are amazing which will eventually start filtering through, keeping professional DJs in the rekordbox eco system.
