Best Boiler Room Ever

DJ Scotch Egg
Otto von Schirach
Merzbow
GFOTY
Anklepants
DIVA
A.G. Cook
Michael Jukeson

It’s so difficult, I wanted to choose Anklepants, but AG Cook just drops bangers.

Defining Anklepants moment comes from 22:44 onwards where is just repeating his own name in a bizarre falsetto voice while making his penis-nose twitch.

GFOTY dropping the Andy Cole song at 17 minute mark for surely one of the most epic moments in dance music history?!

The lighting just doesn’t do it justice.

On the DIVA set, I love the look on the face of the roadman in the Umbro sweatshirt throughout.

bosstrabs the dude on the right cracks me up. She’s giving it the old meditation speech bollox to get people into the vibe, but he’s just swigging on a can of wife beater like he’s at a mate’s (really bad) house party

Shout out to Merzbow for being about to play 20 minutes of feedback in thr name of art!
I’m definitely doing something wrong in life…

Seen scotch egg at Glastonbury and in a small pub in Ireland have to say he’s the best in the business, absolute head case

I had a Scotch Egg at a small pub in Ireland, it was a spud encased in mash with a potato farl breading.

Smallman1 They can be very good in a decent pub, to be fair.

The manky ones you’ve probably bought in Boots as part of a meal deal, less so.

Can’t be arsed watching if I’m honest JTY. I’m voting for Admiral Akbar looky likey, Otto.

Top top outfit, looks like a winner to me

      Some thoughts.

Otto Von Schirach, Anklepants, and our man Scotch Egg appeared to be having a good time so fair play to them. Bunch of nuts, but they’re funny. Scotch Egg also brings a frying pan with him. All the same night, too. Can’t choose them.

Can’t do Merzbow as that’s just not music.

Michael Jukeson changes his t-shirt like 5 or 6 times for some reason. Can’t vote for him on that alone.

PC Music (AG Cook and GFOTY)….I can never tell if they’re trolling. Pretty sure GFOTY is, in fact, trolling so whatever that is is out. Cook seems to take his nonsense very, very seriously.

DIVA is so, so bad. She makes those bunker dwellers endure like 10 minutes of meditation. But she’s not bad looking so…

AG Cook it is. Best Boiler Room ever.

I just skipped through the GFOTY set.

      It’s shambolic.

      3 years later

      There’s a new contender.

      Rebecca Black.

Yes it’s actually that Rebecca Black.

As if she hasn’t had enough of being the butt of music-related jokes for one lifetime already, here’s her trainwrecking for an hour through dance pop Crazy Frog remixes (which the MC at the start of the set proclaims to be “techno”). I kid you not.

And can Boiler Room be said to have any credibility left whatsoever when hosting complete shit like this?! A new low; even worse than Yung Lean just playing songs off his phone.

Wow. Had to Google who she was, think I prefer her early stuff. Going to cheer myself up and watch Threads on the iplayer.

Dave posted a Boiler Room of some fella a couple of years ago. It’s literally the worst thing I’ve ever seen. Absolutely horrendous.

          • Dan replied to this.

hugopal Yes it’s actually that Rebecca Black.

            Never heard of her.

hugopal Yung Lean just playing songs off his phone

I just Googled it and watched a few minutes and its one of the most depressing things i’ve ever seen.

            Now wheres my disc 2…?

Phil-McRackin think I prefer her early stuff

Yeah, I mean at least something actually funny came out of that:

That A G Cook Boiler Room is still an absolutely banging set, I stand by that.

His Nelly Furtado Parking Lot remix is ridic.

              Yeah, next level that, Dave

Laugh all you want but AG Cook was just executive producer (and producer of a load of the tracks) on what was widely seen as the album of the year, and here is Bosstrabs Dave going on about him a few years before he was catapulted to that kind of fame.

Like pastel trabs and countless other things, count on me to be two steps ahead of everyone else on here.

              ‘Today: ridicule, tomorrow: really cool’

Lol, you think knowing about AG Cook in 2015 was some kind of big deal?

Hey QT was already released a whole year before on XL, had millions of streams and was featured on loads of the year end best song lists of 2014 from music publications like Pitchfork, Fader, Spin etc..

At the time of the Boiler Room set, there was even a big feature on the label and AG Cook in The Guardian newspaper, the online article of which received 124 comments which indicates relatively high engagement for the site. He was far from underground and unheralded.

                https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hey_QT

                https://www.theguardian.com/music/2015/may/02/pc-music-dance-music-collective

You were just as much of a sheep for liking that shite back in 2015 as you are for digging the latest Charli XCX garbage today.

One of the Guardian comments under the PC Music article from 2015 already summed it up pretty well:
“I’m afraid all this rather smacks of trashbat.co.ck”

hugopal “I’m afraid all this rather smacks of trashbat.co.ck”

baggers44 that all looks a bit Nathan Barley to me.

                  🙄

Can someone check on Dave? Make sure he’s OK.

I love how tragically Aspergers Hugo is that he takes so many posts this seriously.

bosstrabs ‘Today: ridicule, tomorrow: really cool’

And who dropped the Nathan Barley quote in first?

bosstrabs I didn’t even include in my post the most tragically ironic aspect of your having posted that AG Cook set and citing the latest Charli XCX in your response to my posting of the comically bad Rebecca Black Boiler Room:

At the end of that BR set Rebecca Black sings ‘Friday’ over the AG Cook produced Charli XCX ‘360’ beat…

WHO DROPPED THE FIRST NATHAN BARLEY QUOTE IN THIS THREAD, HUGO?

I’M PLAYING 4D CHESS AND YOU’RE JUST AN ASPERGERS

Hugo’s just a basic Aspergers with a bad addiction to Googling stuff.
