Homegrove Alright so I gave this Dixon mix a real go. Probably only the third mix of his I can say that about. After some very careful analysis, I can say it’s crap. He’s crap. I just don’t get it. How is this guy held in such high regard? The mixing is so substandard it’s not even funny. The first half passed easily enough, then we get to the 30 min mark, where I openly admit that that tune is good, however after that it is just a mess. He cues every single track at the last possible minute, and the vibe/energy/whatever is lost ever single time. And some of the tunes are beyond meh. Several tracks sound like something that would have come out on Audio Therapy back in 06… And the to top it all off, I have the mental image of Dixon standing up there, wearing a matching Dragon Ball Z shirt and short combo, looking like the first person to successfully contract Covid for a second time. And all of it set to canned applause. No thanks.
In general I don’t like this whole playa sound. The Job Jobse, Dj Koze, All Day I Dream, ex ex peeps just make no sense to me. Would it kill these people to play some fucking records with Roland groove boxes in them? I mean come on!. However, anyone of them is at least capable of crafting a logical set, where Dixon seems to busy to even do that. You have 60 min for a fucking pay to stream set ffs.
