Allow me to ride to Smallman’s aide by adding that Dixon was very, very good. We got in around 4 ish and he was just starting to pick things up. Still the longer breakdowns but more impactful breaks.
Was our first time at Printworks (shameful consider how close we live) and it certainly is a spectacular venue. The lights and visuals are amazing but you’ll never beat a purpose build club for sound system.
Blaming Dix for being arrogant is like blaming a German for being German. He lets his DJing and terrible fashion do the talking. I like that he doesn’t release many mixes. Makes seeing him even more of an occasion.
Definitely one of the best sets I’ve heard him play. Back to the epic 8 hour gigs for Hydra a few years back. I saw that he closed the garden at DC10 the next day. Unfortunately every time I’ve heard him at Circoloco it’s been rather flat. He’s not a 90 minute power set kinda guy.
Countdown to Sasha Sunday at Fabric. Then maybe Ame but probably not. Been offered ticket to Afterlife at Printworks too. Not sure I can handle the 7 minute breakdowns and moody Italians…
