An update likely no one wants or asked for, but here it is. I’m amazed at how much more productive structured training is than what I thought was a decent exercise regimen before this.
Ran 300 km in June, mostly zone 2 with some lactate threshold work, but no real “speed” work. Two weeks ago ran a 5k pb of 20:52, last weekend ran my first marathon distance (3:59 in zone 2 on an indoor track because of the smoke … don’t recommend doing that), and finished 8th overall, 2nd in age group, in a 6.7k trail race yesterday.
Need to spend the next 5 weeks getting my climbing legs sorted out, but my cardio fitness is the best it’s ever been and it’s not close. Consistency and lots of zone 2 work make a huge difference.
