He said Damo and not Dermo Millsy.
Unless Damo worked at Eastern Bloc too in which case I’ll call myself a taxi.

NasserAlazzawi …fair enough, and I understand why these categorisations come about, but inevitably these new genres become self-perpetuating; people end up making music to fit into an ‘organic house’ (or whatever) category, and they become flooded with piss-weak, pastiche , library music versions of the artists that innovated that style in the first place. So arguably, finding music by someone else’s conception of a genre, becomes actually harder, not easier.
IMO far better to follow the artists/labels that you like, maybe then explore the artists/labels that influenced them and so on… listen to sets/charts of DJ’s/tastemakers you respect, seek out unfamiliar artists and check out other stuff they’ve done. I don’t exclusively get music from Beatport by any means, but if I do, ‘My Beatport’ is the only filter I’ll use.
The most interesting DJ sets for me (even within the narrow confines of ‘club’ music) are the ones that straddle styles… I’ve played some of the artists you mention, but always end up going back to stuff like Fred Everything, AtJazz, Charles Webster, Shur-I-Kan etc. If you can mix it up a bit and try to make your own sets harder to categorise, there’s much more longevity to that IMO.
Can we talk about Afro house now please? ️
Wow, Ethnic House, why not just say ‘MUSIC FROM NIGGY-NOGGY LAND’?
Todh Teri (Pawas from Daso & Pawas fame) is pretty cool. His India Gets Physical compilation is subtly ethnic and has some great tunes.
You’re my favourite ethnic, Rhousedawg x
lol!
Ethnic house:
Better roof than mine tbf.
Fantastic flood protection was obviously a key design point for those involved. And the architect NAILED IT like a boss. His costsing don’t seem to have stretched too far where access is concerned though but each to their own…
Said this before but I’ll take some questionable mixing with a good amount of variety over some plod-a-thon that all sounds like one long song.
Yeah Millsy’s mixes do sound like one 2hr chug track.
jonattonyeah … yeah THANKS JON.
Some nice “ethnic house” for your delectation
