I know you said nothing modern, but think this holds up quite well with the older bangers. Quite minimal in comparison but has a nice groove to it

jonattonyeah Modern drum n bass is mostly 3 min tunes that are all about the drop. Hard to get some real standouts these days.

Not a massive fan of the scene, but ended up buying this year’s ago.

Another one from the collection 👴🏻

Analogue heaven, check the key change on the mid track break down. Somthing about those old mixing desks and EMU samplers that give it that raw sound by rolling off at 40HZ in hardware. You can’t replicate this on digital gear now, and maybe never will be able to.

Lots of beef on youtube about who came up with the break or this one. Some people say Dom (uncredited but had a hand in engineering the tune) others say it was Trace himself, first heard in his track Mutant Revisited. Others say it was likely Pete Parsons.

Apparently the owner was pissed that it was left clean for the first few bars, resulting in every man and his dog sampling it.

Not quite 90s, but my drum n bass Northern Exposure. Nookie intelligently pieces together a good mix of tracks and, unlike a lot of dnb MCs, MC System adds words without overwhelming. Actually really good for banging out a well paced run too.
