Homegrove -si- studio made bank with that one though, so clearly the thinking worked for them. I didn’t like it either. Terminator 2 is great, but not as good as the first. Arnie as the baddie was so fucking great. Godfather 2 is better than the first.
LT42 I always found the “Godfather 2 is better than the 1st” opinion strange as clearly Godfather 1 is a far better picture according to my stats and peer reviewed study. I watched the 2nd recently (about my 4th or 5th time) with the missus who never watched and found it dragged on a bit. Brando and Caan in the 1st steal it for me. Plus by the end of 2 I was sick of looking at Pacino’s fucking mug.
Millsy Disagree, part 2 is the superior film. But both Godfathers are simply superb ( I refuse to acknowledge pt3 natch)
Amps bosstrabs Trainspotting 2. Forgot about this until recently. Utterly horrific, probably the worst thing committed to screen Agreed. Such an odd set of choices. They swerved the original material of Porno, which was power, and then filmed it like a ‘made for TV’ film. Alarm bells should have been ringing for all concerned from day one.
Along_the_Wire jonattonyeah I was literally gonna post T2 as an awful sequel - totally ruined by the acting and that awful Sarah Connor Doris.
mono-stereo Along_the_Wire I used to think T2 was the better film, but watching it recently it’s actually aged quite badly.
whatever bosstrabs That’s an interesting idea to say that parts of it are a prequel. Coppola always described it (in the extra materials released with the films) as telling the story in parallel where Michael’s struggles in the current reflect his father’s struggles in the past. In the context of the films as they stand, I would say that those parts are flashbacks rather than parts of a prequel per se. The counterpoint to what I have said is that the films were actually cut into a chronological TV series, which clearly signified that the parts were past events, and would be, as you say, a prequel.
Homegrove mono-stereo Agreed. I was too young to see the first one in theatres, and recently upgraded my copy to Blu Ray and was stunned how good it looked.
alistair Amps certainly not. Alien outclasses its sequel in every category. It’s better shot, better directed, has a better-cast and is better written. Its a moody, tense cinematic masterpiece
zackster alistair Alien outclasses its sequel in every category. Ridley Scott over James fucking Cameron? Be👏🏼Have👏🏼
LT42 Amps not sure actually. Might be worth a look. Agree with Millsy too, the shock factor of the 1st will never be beaten and is exceptional in its own right. Truly terrifying and captured the vast lonliness of space perfectly mixed with the sheer terror of the xenomorph.
GerS Amps There’s two cuts of Alien 3, they’ve been out for years now. I remember watching them on the dvd box set years ago. There’s the original cinema cut that Fincher hated that the studio put out. And then the actual Fincher cut he put together later on that he preferred. Can’t say if it’s good or not, that movie doesn’t do it for me at all. It’s Aliens and Alien are my usual go to’s.
