C_J it’s really bizarre. I have a Russian friend who’s lived in Finland since the Soviet Union collapsed and he can’t talk about Russia’s actions in Ukraine without bringing up USA in Libya, Iraq and Afganistan. When people say Russians invented whataboutism they are right.

Not in the sense that “you did something bad therefore its ok for me to do something bad too”

But in the sense that “ok yes we are doing something bad but you have no authority to judge us since you too are guilty of doing bad things”

Russian troops got surrounded in Lyman because they were not allowed to withdraw on the day of Putin’s speech. I hope their gear is in good order after they surrender. 😀

So Ukraine want NATO to speed up its membership. Russia now claims 4 regions as Russian. Feels like it’s getting closer to a much more serious side to the conflict and lead to other countries being forced to get involved.
I’m guessing NATO is shitting itself with Ukraine wanting membership now. The gamble is whether that would stop Putin and he take the regions he has annexed as a victory and walk away or go full nuclear

Belated catch up on Ukraine for me, not been tip top the last week or so.

Annexing the regions with Duma approval seemed, a week ago like a cunning ruse.

Now, reading Russian officials coming out and saying they can’t say for sure which bits and will ‘consult locals’, along with reports of territorial losses, signs are that he’s gone completely hatstand.

Need to figure if that is more or less dangerous from a Nuclear perspective.

Gut feel is less, he’s fucked.

If the western media is to be believed, Putin’s jacket is about as robustly attached as Brendan Rodgers’s’es.

Imagine Vlad gets usurped only to be replaced by some super-hardline coalition led by the likes of Ramzan Kadyrov.

Hursty negotiating with Putin is useless. He’ll spend any cease fire rearming his troops and regrouping, and then the shit starts again. Also anybody expecting Ukraine to just hand over the territories is in for some bad times. That would also result in the war continuing again until he had his puppets in power in Kiev.

I watched a clip of a Joe Rogan show last night who had some guy on who reconned that Zelensky was told by Boris very early on not to negotiate with Russia. Meanwhile his country is being bombed to bits. Surely you have to sit down at some point and make peace.
