I actually preferred Zooropa to any of them. A geuinely listenable and interesting album that I can do beginning to end without getting annoyed by any of it.

I lost interest around the time of All That You Can’t Leave Behind, when they started cranking out absolute second-rate pop drivel.

SM001 Agreed. I’m not a U2 fan, but my mate was going through a hard time so I joined him to see them at Wembley. The tickets were fucking expensive, but the show was worth it (just about). Really good experience.

Saw them at Roundhay Park Leeds on the Pop Mart Tour (97?).

Stepped out of a giant lemon and played Even Better Than The Real Thing and a few other absolute bangers back-to-back early doors. Adam Clayton delivering some top basslines. The whole thing as clanking and industrial as a Slovakian oven factory overseen by Zackster. Half an hour of spectacular brilliance Then of course Bono destroyed the atmosphere crapping on about all sorts for 10 minutes between songs and The Edge doing a crappy solo of Singin in the Rain that no-one could be arsed singing along to.

They’re shit live - saw them at Wembley for the Zooropa tour. Achtung Baby is a good album, I’ll give them that, but I’m not prepared to listed to all the other shit live to hear a few of those songs.

All That You Can’t Leave Behind is one of the most insipid albums I’ve ever heard. Joshua Tree is over-rated shit made for the US market.
