Along_the_Wire Not creating loops. Most of the tunes I mix with have a minimum 60 second mixing intro, but usually 90-120 seconds. 32 beats (not bars) is gonna work out at roughly 15 seconds if your tunes are around the 120bpm mark. If you’re mixing for 2 minutes, that gives you 8 distinct EQ adjustment points through the transition. If it’s a shorter mix, I’ll still stick to the main adjustments being on the 32 beat mark, but will make smaller adjustments between.

LT42 me the same with the KAMS…had to essentially spin the record myself at the right speed with the spindle during my epic 3 min transitions

Today I realised playing tracks with less going on makes it easier to learn.

    So digging out the prog.

So boring to play but gives me space to learn

Mad_Cyril minimal techno works well too, lot’s of percussion and space between sounds will help with layering.

Mad_Cyril mix music your into….you’ll enjoy it more…plus you’ll know all the drops.

Its only for learning a bit Dan.

Once I’m more confident I can go back to house, the extra vocals and wide variety i like is making it tricky to learn anything at the minute 🤦‍♂️

Mad_Cyril i spent my first month mixing the same 4 records, found that to be a good strategy to learn, minus getting completely sick of those records of course.

Guess a lot easier with a laptop. Have got myself a learning method now.

Found a video on EQing thats helped loads.
Find my intro phrase and create a loop.
Match that with current tunes phrase
            Whilst doing balance the EQs
Try and find a place to mix in
Panic and fiddle with the knobs a lot.

Cuing up both channels really helps too, was on using one past week.

The phrasing means I don’t have to fuck about trying to up and down tempo too much whilst still keeping energy going.

            Good fun.

Just need to get my tunes sorted now, too much of a magpie!!

            Apologies for the long post

Mad_Cyril Panic and fiddle with the knobs a lot.

lol i love that. at the beginning it feels like both records are out of control and you’re trying to reign them in like horses dragging you in a carriage. the first time you really control a good mix and feel completely in command is pretty cool.

If i was gonna give advice to my younger novice self, it would be don’t play boring records just because they work together. Just play a load of tunes you love and know them inside out. No one in the real world really gives a fuck about the perfect mix, although it is great when you perfectly mash two tunes together.

mono-stereo Have fucked the prog idea off now I’ve got a bit of a method.

Dont mind a listen every now and then but fucking boring to play

                Dubman Key Lock?

Is that like a child lock that stops me scaring off the cats with the racket?

                  Ah!

Think I’ve heard that happen a few times. But only going up/down 3 or 4 bpms.

So there’s a magic button that stops ikeychanging with tempo.

Something to Google after dinner 👍

I few bpm’s shouldn’t matter so much. There should be something on your software.

verify this because i haven’t done this in a long while, but i think 2-3 bpm is ok and you get semitone shifts after that. could be wrong though, like i said.
