Yeah not using cue points is a bit like not using cruise control while driving a modern car.

…never really bothered with sync on the CDJ’s, not sure why, eye-matching the BPM’s to 0.02 on +/-6 is essentially syncing anyway. Had a play with it the other day, it’s actually pretty good, allows you to spend more time on getting clean loops and phrasing. Synced tracks when the latter isn’t right still sounds dreadful IMO.
Honestly dunno what the big deal is with it.
Anyone seen that Insta account that ‘outs’ people for using sync and even quantize!? he has to be taking the piss.
Don’t see the point in having the sync button on CDJs. What’s the point in the jog wheel if you’re going to just lock it in using a button. Might as well go down the laptop route instead.
Novice post - How come Garnier is using three cdjs with traktor? Control cdrs? Slave leads? Just curious.
Dan remember seeing Fanciulli doing something similar on a lockdown broadcast. Think there’s a way to get CDJ’s to operate as MIDI triggers for Traktor, is my guess.
Dan …dunno how he’s set up, but you can map the CDJ’s as controllers for Traktor.
ScottBailey …kinda know what you mean but there’s still an element of push/pulling to line tracks up, you can be perfectly in sync, but one beat equidistant in front/behind (if that makes sense?).
The grids don’t snap together when you hit play like with Traktor is what I guess I’m saying.
ScottBailey
What if you can’t nail ‘traditionally’ and you’re running out of time?
Could you see a use for it then?
Mad_Cyril thought the answer to this was ‘spin back’?
ScottBailey yep
Dan ….. something called HID mode in Traktor. Some CDJs can link in with Traktor and show all info on the screen, zero latency with jogs and hot cues, zero MIDI mapping required and no control CDRs. My old Mk1 CDJ900s could do it . Was very nice TBH.
…a big piece of dev work apparently to get HID mode rolled out, so not all players have it. FOr example, my Denon SC5000s dont.
