‘master tempo’ is a terrible description of what that button does. Would it not be called ‘key lock’ or something of that ilk?

Along_the_Wire Being able to turn it off allows you to ‘recreate the vinyl experience’ or something like that at a guess. Also, if you pitch it up to +16, some of your hardcore djs might be into the pitched up sound. Suppose some tracks might also happen to only work in key once the bpms have been matched and the key lock would then give you a key clash?

But yeah, keep it on, pick tracks that don’t key clash in the first place.

Amps To be fair, I first heard that from Pappa, who pretty much made his reputation keying his record box, so there’s a chance he might just be pissed off that technology stole his gig. Like I say, I can’t hear it, and I consider my ears at least moderately educated…

I used to use it on Traktor, never used it on CDJs. Now don’t use it in either. For the best soundquality it is best not to use it, ditto with all the auto gain functions. Both have an impact on the sound quality. But I’m very picky these days, most folks don’t even notice the difference.

Am I the only clown in the world that still uses the cross fader?

I’ve actually got some decent tips on some videos I’ve watched, but no-one seems to use the cross fader.

I think the XZ is so much better to mix on, the jog wheels are definitely way more accurate than the RX2 and I’m pretty sure there’s less drift - there’s still some on the odd track, but can’t work it out.

Not much use in the world of prog. Possibly of some use depending on how you play your techno. For the sake of your mixes and other peoples listening experience, all djs should spend more time learning to work the eqs properly.
