Along_the_Wire I’m probably going to upgrade to the XZ at some point next year. What is it that you have found hard about making the switch from controller to all in one?

Matt it was about mixing properly for me - Traktor/sync/controller was boring. The XZ is fantastic and just feels great when you’re mixing, shit or not, it’s fun. I’m shit, but I’m happy with that and just enjoying and getting marginally better.

Get yourself a DJ laptop stand off eBay for less than a score. I used mine for years with no problems.

Thats what i intend to do Dubbers, i just want to know, dor sure that the controller wont be wobbling about on the feet of said stand.

Especially given i ha e a Gorilla DJ table thing in the garage that got the curly finger

If you’ve just got some sought of table then just get a basic laptop stand.

Im probably not describing too great.

Its not deep enough for a controller and laptop.

Or a controller and laptop stand, they all sem to have feet that come iut as far as a laptop.

To make it work, the controller would need to sit on the feet of the stand but i dont want the fucker wobbling all over the place

It doesn’t really need to be deep enough for both as the laptop stand’s feet go underneath the controller. The only thing I needed was some wedges just to alter the angle of the controller so I could see all the functions.

Along_the_Wire It’s all about having fun, mate. If you get more out of the XZ then that’s great. My personal experience with a controller and laptop has been pretty positive.

I’ve never used sync but Initially, I struggled a bit with my focus being drawn to the screen too often. I found that the best way for me to use rekordbox is in browse view, where the majority of the screen is just your music library and you have small waveform overviews at the top of the screen. I don’t know most of my music that well these days, so the waveform overview is useful for knowing roughly whats happening in the track.

Finally got the Fisher Price gear set up today.

Set up the EQ’s to isolator but one channel operates in isolator mode, the other as a normal EQ.

Really struggling with the phrasing though.

Pulling off a lot of shit mixes, a few acceptable ones, and a lot of acceptable ones where the phrasing takes all the energy out.

Struggling to figure how you can line up a phrase out. Massive respect for those that did it on vinyl!

Mad_Cyril Ah! Yeah, a fundamental of a good mix, very easy once you know your tunes. Some tunes (for many differing reasons) will make themselves incompatible with the last tune due to their phrasing… they should be ejected from your consideration immediately! The vibe and energy take precedence over your desire to get that ‘chon you love’ shoe horned into the mix somehow. Trying to get that ‘choon’ to somehow work will keep you awake, sometimes for weeks, and then make you want to jump out of a window, don’t let it win!
