To risk derailing this thread, the half marathon is fucking tough. Goal was 1:44, finished 1:43:38, which I’m really happy with, but almost killed myself the last few km to do it. Heart rate averaged 181 with a 198 peak. 😅

Humidity was 85% and it was hot, so I think that got me a bit as I had a plan and basically tossed it out at the half way point. Finished 31st for men 40-49 and 183 overall. Proud of myself for fighting through it and would definitely encourage everyone to try that at least once. The running community is amazing.

Morty-C-137 Yeah, 20 bpm over what I expected for the pace. Had to be the heat because my breathing and legs felt good. I put in an effort for an old guy today lol.

Mad_Cyril Cheers and they concerned me a bit too. Bloody heat/humidity was too much. I was having to walk parts of the last half just to get my heart under 180, then back at it. At least I know I won’t have a heart attack doing basic shit now. 😂

Only that it’s a complete rip off and studies have shown it’s got absolutely no properties different than normal honey. It does generally taste nicer though but all the shit peddled is, well, shit.

Dr Michael Moseley did a segment on it on his prog. They took it through tests at a laboratory and it’s all unfounded hippy shit and companies whose latched onto it to rip you off.

Cankles-McJeggings Noted. Was just going to say, the prices are ludicrous, not sure if its worth going all-in like I did magnesium (same friend recommended it).

It’s an electrolyte? Never seen it resulted to sleep ever. Chelate will just make you shit yourself inside out.

Chelate is just a suspension the magnesium bonds to. It’s common. But also lots of people shit themselves inside out after taking it.

Cankles-McJeggings Some of the folks in this thread had the same issue with Magnesium Citrate, versus the other magnesium varieties.

What’s your take on cod-liver oil? Just started that, seems to be having a positive effect on me.

I eat loads of oily fish, ocean trout, smoked trout and salmon and smoked trout fillets throughout the week so no need to supplement with fish oils which are omega 3 and 6 rich. They recommend 250g twice a week and I’m double that. Don’t eat anything high in saturated fat either really. Maybe once or twice a month. Cut out dairy yonks ago. And bread.
I’m not very conventional for breaky I have rice, chickpeas, kale, tomatoes and smoked fish every single fucking day. Sometimes scramble an egg into it. Followed by dried dates, fig and apricot. Living the dream.
