Pulse Blu Ray came in the mail yesterday, and I just sat through the whole concert (2,5 hours) without touching my phone once. The picture quality hadn’t really changed from the DVD (the concert in Earls Court was filmed on video and you can’t master that beyond 720 unfortunately, unlike film), but the sound was phenomenal.

I’ve listened to a lot of their stuff recently thanks to streaming, I never owned physical albums from them that wasn’t an obvious one, like Dark Side of the Moon or The Wall, you know. So have really done a deep dive only in the past 10 years.

Definitely my favorite dad band.

    I was at one the nights at earls court when they toured Division Bell in 1994. Still the best concert I’ve ever been to.

      Dubman must’ve been something to see live. They had technical stuff there nobody else used for many years because of the cost. I think they had to use sponsors on the tour to make it profitable, despite doing mainly stadiums.

        Dubman same! I was only 12 so was a bit young to appreciate the whole show, but High Hopes, Comfortable Numb and Run Like Hell are still vivid memories

          The production costs must have been huge. I think they had the biggest circular screen in the world. The laser show completely filled earls court. It was incredible.

          they’re a band i definitely appreciate more as i get older. that said, wish you were here is one of my favorite songs.

          I watched a VHS of Live in Pompeii on acid back in the mid 90s. Felt like it went on for 10 hours. A bit mental in parts.

          They’ve had some great tracks obvs but this is my fave of the lot. Simply perfect.

            Watched it after a massive bucket session in the early 90’s. Pure stoner rock.

              alistair Guy Pratt has been a more than adequate replacement when on tour. But I’m definitely on the side of “original lineup” arguements, with exception (I think/I’m still undecided/it’s complicated..) of Van Halen

                    Completely agree. without Roger they weren’t the same. Still good live though. Guy Pratt was an excellent bass player instead of Roger.

                      The Pulse-version of The Great Gig in the Sky beats the album-version IMO, even if Dark Side of the Moon is my favorite album of theirs.

                      ScottBailey Guy Pratt is undoubtedly a competent musician as witnessed on Pulse but without Waters, they ain’t Floyd. Although they will never admit it, Roger and Dave needed each other

                          Dark side of the moon, wish you were here are both brilliant albums but my fav album is Animals. I hated it for years then I finally got it in my 30’s.

                            Plus, when Pink Floyd did that one off gig in Hyde Park, it might as well have been called Pink Floyd & Roger Waters. Think he’d have been happy with a spotlight on him all night and a big ass sign behind saying “LOOK AT ME!”

                              Dubman Brilliant album. Floyds run from Meddle (so underrated) to the Wall is incredible. Echoes has to be one of the best albun closers ever

                                            Got them all on original vinyl from my father. He went to all the live shows when they toured all the albums.

                                              Even though they are my favourite band I didn’t really like the material they made with Syd Barrett.

                                                Dubman me neither really, with the exception of See Emily Play and Astronomy Domine and Interstellar Drive. Imagine it would have been a great live experience though

But given the choice of have to watch his smug, arrogant boat on stage prentending to care about the band, or watching Guy Pratt in substitute and delivering an even better show because of, I know what I’d choose to see 10/10

                                                        Homegrove I’ve got their albums on re-released heavy vinyl - the production on Wish You Were Here and Dark Side of the Moon is phenomenal - they’re the best sounding records I own by miles.

                                                              Roger Waters - In The Flesh, Portland. (2000). Prob the best live gig I’ve ever seen. The one with Doyle Bramhall II and Andy Fairweather Low. Every musician on show at the top of their game, its incredible how tight the show is from start to finish. Best music DVD I ever spent money on.
