Genuinely didn’t know Jay was short for Jayford, I always thought it was for Jaythaniel

It’s actually short for Jaywick. Which is also where he picked up his English accent.

mono-stereo B) bitter disappointment with a side portion of emptiness.

Many of us are England fans too, so we’re well prepared.

      Cringe.

I call it football. I hate the word soccer; despite our FA being called ‘Canada Soccer’. I play and referee up to a semi-pro level on a weekly basis - which is a far cry better than most of you armchair midfielders do. I scored about 13 goals a season for about five years from age 35-40, but my current strike rate has slowed with age. My pub side are called Game Of Throw-ins FC and I’m the oldest fucker on it at 46.

Maybe I shouldn’t have boasted about the last one….

Needless to day, I know what I’m doing when I play the position of attacking running back. [snickers]

Fuck me. Cleats? They’re boots mate. You’ve been sitting next to Bry Adams at the Bridge too long.

Adidas or get the fuck out. Maybe some Diadoras. I can’t wear Nike, New Balance, etc. It’s all about the fit and kangaroo leather. I don’t do synthetics.

He asked people! I’m a man of the people!

Well played. I imagine that sounds quite charming with your Dublin accent as your hand meets your face whilst your head shakes! 😆

Good to see you back in your wheelhouse Jaydon

It’s already happening in the Voyageurs forum on Facebook - who are the official supporters group of our side.

“Y’all need to throw the ball to Davies and put all 10 men up front by the goal except for the goalie!”

I applaud their enthusiasm at least. BMO Field in Toronto was rammed to 30K capacity and they were loud as fuck yesterday, even though about half of that audience couldn’t spot an offside from a well played through ball. …Wait, that’s about 90 percent of fans.

In all seriousness, when we lost for the first time in WC qualifying the other night down in Costa Rica, Canada Soccer had to put out a statement saying they don’t support racism.

The backstory: Mark Anthony-Kaye, one of our midfielders picked up two yellows in the game and thus a red. He happens to be black - as is about 85% of our team. I’ve got a pic of him, my son and I after the game and he is absolutely lovely. Some absolute poor excuses for people racially abused him online saying it was his fault for the loss, despite us still being atop of the group with the most goals scored than ANY team in the world last year.

      People are absolute muppets.
