Dan

One of the reasons I thought our man was fucked up in Costa Rica. Seems like he played the wrong side of the record playing the original All Exhale given how much he’d been banging out the FS mix.

Homegrove 2. Soul Mekanik - I’ll Call You (Thin Red Man Mix)

    1. Ariane - Eternity

It feels odd hearing ’I’ll Call You’ going in to ‘Eternity’, having been so used over the years to hearing it vice-versa at the start of Nick Warren’s ‘Amsterdam’ GU.

Both this set and the Amsterdam GU were at very similar times - I wonder if Sasha and Warren were aware they both liked playing those two tracks next to each other, or if one of the DJs was influenced by the other.

Sasha openly said he loved Nick Warren in an interview in thevlate 90s / early naughties and said he was the best programmer in the business iirc

    • Dan replied to this.

Old-Dutch He signed him to his DJ roster at Excession. I read that interview….pretty sure it was Ministry Mag when the did a ADD feature.

Dan I remember that. They always had a lot of mutual respect for each other.

        • Dan replied to this.

Who was that loon on GU with the Elon/Hugo-esque erection for Jody Wisternoff? He was downright obsessive.

          • Echo replied to this.

I’ve never seen Jody Wisternoff play.

            Absolute scones I know.

            Echo

That was it. Appreciated his WOW obsession until he went down the US nazi type political stuff. The loon.

Wasn’t the chap who turned up to Fabric in full sailors attire was it?

Think James Zabiela and Meat Katie were playing that night.

We shared a terrific sense of humour and had both seen our clubs lift ole big ears in the flesh.

            Life eh? Bloody hell!

We’ve gone from me and BF to MC and Si.

              Sad times.

Vinny was big fan of all things WOW. Nick, Jody everything. And besides being right wing also a full blown homophobe. I assume he’s done a hate crime or two by now.

I bow down to the trainspotting in this thread over the past week; I thought I was good at knowing my prog, but I’m an amateur compared to you lot!

mono-stereo I know because I got in touch with Steve Parry about booking Nick around 2000….We couldn’t afford him at the time 🤣. Elliot Eastwick said when they booked Tenaglia there was about 15 of them lined up at the cashpoint to pay him cash for spinning at Robodisco….

                Smallman1 Me ole mucka BF.

When me and him were on fire, we were untouchable!

Fair play to whoever set you both on fire. What a sight that would be

Dan heh, the old 250 quid link limit kicking in. I bet Tenaglia was mega money at that time. I remeber the hyper around him playing at GC summer sound system.

I wonder what Nick Warren’s charges are these days.

                  He’d probably settle for….

                  2 large eggplants,
                  Extra virgin olive oil
                  4 tablespoon breadcrumbs
1 large yellow onion, finely chopped
                  1 pound ground lamb
                  1 tablespoon dried oregano
                  1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
                  ½ teaspoon black pepper
                  ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
½ teaspoon paprika or hot paprika
                  ½ cup red wine
                  14 ounce can diced tomato
                  1 teaspoon sugar
                  ½ cup hot beef broth
⅓ cup + 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
                  ⅔ cup all-purpose flour
                  ½ teaspoon salt
                  ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
                  4 cups 2% milk, warmed
                  2 large eggs

Dan back before the days when you also had to fly his horse over with him.

mono-stereo I bet Tenaglia was mega money at that time. I remeber the hyper around him playing at GC summer sound system.

                    Was there for that.

                    He was mint tbf.

                      10 days later

This is actually my favorite set from Sasha from 2000. It has all the hits he used to play that year (and Trisco - Musak!, and even ends with Yeke Yeke.

                          Dan

Not really. Saw him do much longer sets at Fabric a few times that year, and Sankeys, and hardly any of those tracks were featured.

Homegrove Fuck we were at that. Saw Deep Dish in the afternoon and then joined the stampede into the tent for Sasha. Quivver played before him iirc. Sasha had a proper lairy moment with a photographer who was shoving a camera in his face for the 1st hour.

Here’s another one, 1hr 48 in live at the rub, Tampa 1999. Sounds a bit like Nuw Idol but it isn’t.
