Complete embarrassement for us IMO. The same folks who say we should not talk about the right wing problem in Finland, because it would be ammo for Russia are somehow very gung ho that this symbol is not changed.

    Tbf you still see it in Hindu temples here and pictures of it in religious people’s homes. But I mean the symbol matched with a crisp military suit versus some dirty bald sadhu only wearing an orange shawl has very different connotations.

          zackster on Saturday actually. That was the Flag Day, a once a year holiday for the military. Which in it self is a bit of a nationalist-thing I’m not sure is necessary.

            Hats off for this move. Especially as we await the horror that is about to come to the homeless in SF.

              zackster yep. Now we need better help for drug users, we’re quite not yet there with the USA, but the police are still seen as the first option. Things got out of hand in a busy through way (there’s a major subway entrance, and it’s also a major intersection) in Helsinki, and the city just got more cops patrolling the area and moving the problem elsewhere. That place has always been like that, the nickname is used by everyone, even newspapers when discussing it. Everyone calls it Speed Market.

                  zackster pesäpallo is a variation of baseball. The pitcher is at the base with the hitter, otherwise apparently pretty much the same. It was my favorite game in gym class always.

                      Knowing nothing about baseball other than the logical elements of pitching a fast ball
                      and running around the bases in order, I can sympathise that this is interpretation is a bit crazy!

                      The hell! Baseball is already overly complicated and inane. Why make it even worse!
